Celebs React To Oprah's Departure

After a quarter of a century, Oprah Winfrey will be leaving you stay-at-home moms to your own devices as she is ending her daytime reign in September of 2011.

Many of her close friends and colleagues took a moment to respond to the news and, as you would imagine, they all have nothing but the best to say.

Her life partner in crime, Gayle King, assured the press that the decision to leave her daytime days behind was hers and hers alone. Furthermore, she has no doubt that Oprah will find a way to fill the void left behind:

" I think that Oprah always makes the best decision for herself. I really do. And I have a feeling she will come up with some things to do. She has a very full life … We don't need to worry about her filling her time, I promise you that! Life is good for her."

New bestie Ellen DeGeneres made similar comments when addressing her in-studio audience last night, saying:

"Hey listen, I'm going to tell you some news you're going to hear as soon as you go out into the world, when you leave here. Right before I came out here, I got a call from Oprah and she told me that she is announcing that next year will be her last year. It will be her 25th year, and she feels like it's time for her to stop…I don't think I could be here without her. I think she has blazed a trail … She is an amazing woman…She will always be the Queen of Daytime Television."

Ah, but there is another Queen of Daytime who's doesn't think we have seen the last of O. Martha Stewart told reporters that she believes Oprah will be back, once she has had some time off:

"She'll do another show. She's evolving. She's fabulous."

We're sure she will do another show as well. Question is, will she have it air on network TV or her new cable network, OWN?

We'll have to wait and see.

What do U think of O's big move?

  7. 7

    What's her next big move?
I predict she's going to take a giant dump and have Dr. Oz come over and check it for gold!

  8. 8

  9. 9

  10. 10

I like Oprah, but I can't help but to wonder why they are announcing this almost 2 years prior!!! Why?! Are they looking for better ratings?! As I hear that her show's rating were not doing well. I just can't help but wonder.

  11. 11

    GAWD I HOPE SO…
Now let's get something good to take its place.

  12. 12

  15. 15

HI HATERS… Oprah is the shit, so take a big sniff bitches.

  16. 16

Oprah will be back with her show but it will be on her own NETWORK. OWN TV (stands for Oprah Winfrey Network). This mogul is expanding and will be the first woman to have her own network. I predict that she will use her show to launch it and it will be HUGE. At fifty something I can't see her resting on her laurels.

  17. 17

    :(

  18. 18

Oprah is like the sex industry … They make billion & billion of $$ every years but if you ask anybody if they rent a porno movie they all say "OMG no!"

It's the same with Oprah … she as million of viewer everyday but nobody want to tell that they watch her show!! Weird!

    For me I listen - I love - I assume & I'll miss her a lot!!

  19. 19

Why not go out on top after 25 years?

  20. 20

Its about time. Oprah became very seperated from "real" people. Her life became all about the celeb world. You could see the difference in how she treated the regular people on her show from the celebs.

  21. 21

I say good for her. Leave while you're still on top!

  22. 22

Hopefully she'll be moving to the end of the Earth! Enough already! I agree she has blazed a trail for women in daytime talk, but come on, she had a TALK SHOW, she didn't cure polio or anything really special….

  23. 23

    who cares?!

  24. 24

That's great, but what does KATHY GRIFFIN think???!!!

  25. 25

GOOD BYE, BIG DYKE!!! Miss Oprah is so afraid of anyone finding out she is a LESBIAN, that if you work for her in ANY capacity (whether a Janitor all the way up to a CEO) you MUST sign a lifetime contract to NEVER discuss the goings on in the company or her life. The IDIOTS that actually sign the contract (a friend of mine works on her magazine )must also keep their mouth shut after they leave her employ. It is a lifetime contract!!!
