Just ask Wesley Snipes, whose lawyers are desperately trying to have the court repeal their "unreasonable" three-year prison sentence for the film star, who was convicted a year ago on federal tax charges.
The actor is free on bail now, but he was convicted in April 2008 and received the maximum penalty for refusing to pay the government the $2.7 million he owed in back taxes.
His attorneys appeared before a judge in Atlanta this morning without Snipes and argued that the sentence was too harsh and "focused too heavily on deterrence." They also argued that Snipes was not given a hearing to discuss moving the trial to New York.
Too late now!

American citizens never had to pay income tax. It's illegal and the 16Th amendment never extended the power of the banks to do this. The Federal Reserve not only lacks this authority, but no laws actually exist that require anyone to pay these taxes. Your labor is your personal property! Real ID & NAU will end our freedom…do your research people…DO IT!
Stop whining. Pay your taxes and count your blessings that you have the opportunities to make huge paychecks. No one's giving you a pass.
His attitude for years has been bad - perhaps doing some jail time will get his attention. He needs to realize he's not "privileged"

Lights on and up everyday at 6:00 a.m. sharp, Snipes. It might have been easier to pay what you owe or set up proper tax havens like the rest of them seem to be able to. Day-um.
Maybe it's me, but I don't understand why he is still not in jail. I thought once you were convicted, you went to jail. I thought BAIL was for BEFORE you went to trial. He has had his day in court and was convicted. What the hell is he still out for??? Most prisoners have to appeal their convictions from within the bars of prison.
After my own personal jail experience, I would never wish it on anyone, but… these celebs get out of their crimes way too easily & it's time for that shit to stop!!
