This could be inneresting!

Steven Spielberg and Stephen King are joining forces to develop a series based on King's recently released thriller, The Dome. Dreamworks TV has optioned the book and will market it as a limited event series for cable.

The company is starting to meet with writers for the project, which centers around an invisible force that overruns a small Maine vacation town. The force drives surviving locals into groups that wage war on each other.

That's it?!

Both Spielberg and King will serve as executive producers, but the idea seems kinda lame!

Will U be keeping your eye out for the invisible force?!

Say what you will about King, he's written some sick-ass stories…

Writers? Oooh. They should think about Shaun Cassidy writing for this. He does dark and macabre as well as anyone in today's genre.

    3. 3

      Yes!
I JUST finished the book yesterday, it was awesome!
His last few books have been boring, so it was nice to read a really good one by King.
I'm excited for the tv version.

Sure, some of Stephen King's ideas sound stupid on the surface, but he's a pretty damn good storyteller and he can make even the lamest ideas interesting. Combined with Steven Speilberg? On cable? Sign me up!

    5. 5

Not into either one of them - they never fail to disappoint.

    6. 6

you clearly don't understand the plot at all. try going to a bookstore sometime.

Doesn`t the older Stephen King gets the more he starts to look like Billie Jean King? And pleease, that idiot has got to be the most over-rated writer in the history of literature. Out of curiousity I`ve read about 10 of his books and they ALWAYS crap out! They start out good but always get ridiculous and deflate. Incredible to me how this guy is so successful.

does anyone else think that book might be a complete rip-off of the simpson's movie? it's preeetty close!

    9. 9

Say what you will about Stephen King (like he's inneresting … WTF?). He has written some novels that the reader practically lives while reading them. And Perez and Barbie ??? HE CAN SPELL TOO!! Imagine that. I mean, neither of you can and you have the balls to call yourselves journalists. I didn't realize GED had a journalism degree.

    10. 10

Yep, King and Spielberg should be able to come-up with good stuff.
I'll give it a chance .. both are heavy-hitters with great potential!

    11. 11

LOL #8 I had to take to look twice, I too thought it was Billy Jean King!!

    12. 12

this is a really good book, id be excited to see a seris.
probably wont be as good as the book though

    13. 13

an association Spielberg / King is a big welcome.

    14. 14

lol 90% of King's stories are set in Maine, he's so biased. And yeah, the plots tend to repeat themselves but hey what do you expect after all the books he's written? He's still one of my favorite authors, his writing is so engaging it's hard to put a book down once you're all into it. I usually don't like the movies but I haven't read this book so maybe I'll tune in…

    15. 15

Hellz yeah! reading the book right now. Best damn King book I have read in almost 20 years!
      Welcome back SK!!

    16. 16

      two satanists.

    17. 17

How about actually reading the book or some reviews or listening to some of King's most recent interviews on it BEFORE you make an ignorant comment.

It happens to be very scary, compelling and a real social experiment.

Speilberg is lucky to have jumped on this one.

    18. 18

Lame? No, sparkling "vampires" who walk around in daytime and shirtless werewolves are lame. Stephen King will fuck your shit up.

    19. 19

Sure, it SOUNDS like nothing to the ordinary person but to those that have actually read Stephen King's work KNOW everything he writes is pure gold.

    20. 20

Hey, thats original. At least it was when it was the plot of the Simpsons movie. Maybe King and Spielberg are both running out of ideas.

    21. 21

Re: DukeSteele – He started writing it in the seventies and then scrapped it. Unless he had a time machine, he beat the Simpsons by a couple decades.

    22. 22

      yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh

    23. 23

      Re: nmccoy
      Uh no.
Besides the dome over the city, it's not close at all.

    24. 24

This oughta be dynamite! Bravo — the 2 Steves collide!

    25. 25

      HELLZ YES

Can't wait to read this new book, its supposed to be really good!

plus i normally really like his mini series (the stand, rose red, kingdom hospital!!)

      go king!!

    26. 26

nice duo 2 create sumthing 2gether

    27. 27

The book is titled "Under the Dome" and so far (I'm halfway through) has been excellent. Will make an enjoyable mini-series.

    28. 28

Wasn't there a Simpson's episode about the very same horror?

    29. 29

So it's exactly the same plot as Steven Kings other made for TV movie The Stand? Not that I'm complaining, The Stand has always been my favourite movie.

You really should try to actually READ something before you make stupid comments about it Perez. Oh … I guess I should say, you should learn to read, THEN actually read something … my bad. Stephen King is the master!
