We don't think anyone involved with the Twilight franchise is going to lose much sleep over this!
The Vatican is hating on the Twilight series, including New Moon, which opens TODAY, calling it a "moral vacuum with a deviant message". Those close to holiness are concerned with the message the movie is sending out to people, especially their target audience - teenagers.
Monsignor Franco Perazzolo, of the Pontifical Council of Culture, says:
"The theme of vampires in Twilight combines a mixture of excesses that as ever is aimed at young people and gives a heavy esoteric element. It is once again that age-old trick or ideal formula of using extremes to make an impact at the box office. This film is nothing more than a moral vacuum with a deviant message and as such should be of concern."
We think you have finally made it, Twilight. You're not really a franchise worth having if the Vatican doesn't think you'll destroy the Roman Catholic Church and corrupt moviegoers across the world.

I saw a midnight premiere last night of New Moon and I LOVED IT, it sticks to the book and is fantastic, I don't care what the critics think at all if they try to bash it because it is perfect in terms of what I envisioned that New Moon would be, can't wait to see Eclipse out on 06.30.2010!

Saw NM last night. Have to say that it didn't quite matched up with my expectations. The start of the movie was a bit lame… But serious… The wolvescenes are fantastic! Taylor totally ruled this part! And overall it was great!

Stephenie Meyer is a Mormon, so she grew up with high morals and values, and it shows in her books. There are maybe 3 curse words in the whole series. I mean seriously they get married before having sex. The vampires don't kill humans, well the cullens and the denali coven. Seriously the vatican has probably never attemted to watch or read the series. They are just making assumptions, which is completely normal for them. New moon was horrible. If you read the books you'll understand what Im talking about. They ended with the END of the 3rd book Eclipse. What the hell does this new director think hes doing. Some parts were good, but he cut out major parts of the book.

Just saw it at 10AM this morning. I just couldn't resist. It was SOOOOO fucking good. Not even lying, even my mom loved it. She read the books, and she's not even really all that into it. But she thought it was great too.
And wow, the new director Chris is A M A Z I N G. He really made this movie perfect. I'm so glad he directed this film. It's definitely a must see, gooooo watch it! Now!

that makes no sense whatsoever. one of the major themes in twilight is the fact of afterlife for vampires, which edward & most others believe that they are damned (which is part of why he won't change bella) carlisle believes there is an afterlife, just as for humans (like a heaven or purgatory) & that if they are truly trying to be good they'll go there. the whole theme is edward's soul-he's so good, & he has changed when he met Bella, she changed him forever to be better & more human with feelings even though he has killed people before her.
secondly, its all about abstinence til marriage edward is NOT getting any-& he ok with it.

I LOVED it. Even though Kristen ad Robs acting SOMETIMES left something to be desired, there were parts where they were spot on. It seems like a gradual process as they get deeper into the characters. Can't wait for Eclipse!!! And Taylor did a kick ass job, I'm so proud of him. And why did Rosalie look like a man in drag?????
