      Wasn't that great! The outfit she wore was horrible, the dancing wasn't all that great and tell me why these singers even wear a mic???? If they are going to lip-sync just don't even bother to mouth the words, just go out and dance to your own music and forget about the singing….or lack of!! POOR POOR PERFORMANCE!

      Did she attempt to sing live at all?
      There were some punctuating sounds that were live but the songs themselves, no way live, especially the new song (which is quite a good Janet tune).

      I HATED the grandma gear she wore… brown? baggy booty pants? flat boots? her makeup was fierce but she should have let granny keep the outfit because it was horrid. It's no wonder she was sweating as much as she was in the end, she was dressed for a winter storm.

      I'm a HUGE JJ fan, but I agree, the outfit wasn't very appealing and was it just me or was something off? This was not the "typical" JJ performance. Anyone else, this would be ok, but JJ, no, she has standards to live up to, and I just felt she wasn't committed to this performance…I felt like something was wrong, but either way, love her!

      Janet Jackson was the main reason that I decided to watch the AMA's this year but her performance was just okay for me. She lacked energy (and her outfit wasn't flattering) and I wonder if her heart is really into singing and performing anymore. When I watched her ABC interview last week she did mention that she wanted to do more acting, which, in my opinion, is her first true love. Nonetheless I still love her and at this point in her career she really has nothing to prove. She is a solidified pop icon.

      She didn't sing one live note and by the end she was visibly winded. It was sad, actually. Recycled 10-year old dance moves. And that fucking Lord of the Rings hobbit costume. Beyond tragic.

      Why was she singing old songs? Guys, are you serious? This performance was to promote her greatest hits album. Greatest hits. Old songs (aside from Make Me). Get a grip, folks.

      And she was definitely singing live. There was totally a backing track, but there was in every other performance too. I even noticed it in parts of GaGa's performance, and it was INCREDIBLY noticeable in Shakira's performance. If you don't think she was singing live, go listen to the original songs and then watch the video again.

      Please continue to insult that outfit though because damn. That's hideous.

And for those of you who say if it wherent for MJ's death she wouldnt have been asked. Janet is one of the most successful female artists of all time, and she did it without her brother(s).       That's your opinion, but how could it be underserving when all the artist who received awards from the AMA's was first off based on record sales? and then voted on by the American public? However, the only way the American public was able to vote for people in those categories is if they sold enough records to be placed in that category to begin with. Next time some people should pay attention to the AMA's disclaimer at the end of the award ceremony. I happened to vote for Michael b/c he deserved them. And though he didn't receive Artist of the Year (congrats to T. Swift and her acceptance speech was very gracious) we all know that Michael is Artist of the Century + so that was cool. Just saying..

      Her performance was great! Exciting and full of energy! You also have to remember that she's in her 40's. The dancing is not going to be like it was when she was in her 20's. I know most of the haters still expect that though…
