Tyler Perry Gets Generous

Madea has MILLIONS and now she is sharing the wealth.
In honor of the organizations 100th anniversary, Tyler Perry has made a $1 million donation to the NAACP! The gift makes the largest donation ever given to a civil rights group from an individual and is said to be distributed to them over the next four years.
NAACP leaders, of course, are praising Tyler for his generosity, calling his gift to them a "paradigm-shifting moment in black philanthropy." But Tyler feels it is the least he can do for a group that has done so much for his community.
He said:
"Had it not been for the perseverance and vision of the thousands who came before me in the 100 years of this legendary organization, I would not be in the position I am today. I am proud to be able to help in their mission to fight for the equality of all people, and to work towards the elimination of discrimination."
How nice!

Love it when celebrities give back.
It does earn them tax write-offs, but still nice to know they care about issues.
Kind of ironic that he gives money to an organization that is about advancing African Americans in all aspects, yet his movies show blacks acting like buffoons. His movies make millions off black people acting like sterotypes that the NAACP is against. Go figure! Either way it was nice of him to give back. Now if he would work on portraying black people other than Madea and everybody eating fried chicken and pop locking I would be cool with it.
I love him. If I wasn't married..
Now if he would finally come out of the closet and tell the last 6 people who don't know he's gay the truth.
It is great that celebrities share their fortune and donate but why must it make news. If they are doing it because they really care about the organization they are donating to why don't they just do it anonymously?
perez, you report this like, "Finally he's giving back", but it was on this site that i learned he has given to charity before.
I am thrilled with his 1 million dollar donation to the worthy NAACP but I was saddened to hear that it represents the largest donation to a civil rights organization ever. I would have though others would have given similar or higher donations than this in the past.
It's because he's still smarting from what Spike Lee said about him.
HO MY GOD…TWO FREEKIN APES !
that's great but sad that in 100 years he's the first and then it's in payments… wtf booooo
where's brad and angie…would these celebs give back if it wasn't a tax write off
I don't get why it's considered a one million dollar donation when it's spread over four years. Wouldn't it just be $250,000 each year for four years and then his total is a million. You/they/whomever made it sound as if it was a single million dollar donation. Weak.
He's really cool! Oprah, Perry, Brangelina, etc are such givers and it's just awesome! Madonna needs to learn a lesson! She PRETENDS to give…..she'll give the equivalent of OUR $.05 and ASK for donations! Then acts as an ambassador! You're not fooling anyone you old hag!
Re: divas2 – And to this I agree! It's 2009, we have a black president, you asked for equality, you got it! Now, quit SEPARATING yourselves with these bogus programs that should NO LONGER EXIST! WHITES are the majority and voted Obama in, not just the 11% of the black population! To that I say SHUT UP, YOU HAVE NO MORE EXCUSES! Do the right thing! If you want equality then don't give POWER to INEQUALITY!
Call me a cynic, but this money will be squandered and wasted.
I grew up in the Bronx in a housing project and my mother is from Harlem and my Dad came from the South. Verily, I say unto you, I have never known anyone who was personally assisted in attending college by the UNCF , nor anyone other than death row inmates who was ever assisted by the NAACP. They are elitist, They left common Black people behind in the dust ages ago.
Watch the executive board give themselves raises and hire their relatives. Graft and corruption. Remember when Jesse Jackson paid off his mistress with the funds from Operation PUSH?
It was a fine gesture, Mr. Perry, but I'll be surprised if there are any concrete, visible results from your investment. Long ago, I was told that the NAACP Legal Defense Fund is worthy, but to avoid the actual NAACP. I just don't trust them to do the right thing.
"…we are like dwarfs on the shoulders of giants, so that we can see more than they, and things at a greater distance, not by virtue of any sharpness of sight on our part, or any physical distinction, but because we are carried high and raised up by their giant size".
I LOVE TYLER PERRY! LOVE LOVE
Good for him.
He's inspired a lot of folks to take action for themselves- we need more like him!
Should this be filed under gay, gay, gay?
