Smart money people are suggesting that come this Friday, known as Black Friday to some and to others the day you get all bitchy for the opportunity to get into Macy's first, 16% more people will be heading out to the stores to do their holiday shopping.
That's good news for our flailing economy and to have 57 million people buying crap they don't really need would certainly boost some moral in retail.

Black Friday in 2008 had good sales, then drastically fell-off after that.
Many retailers overstocked items that didn't sell.
Hope this year does better. America needs it.

For once I'm doing the whole spirit of Black Friday. Grabbing a hotel and while my boyfriends parents sleep and our child sleeps and stays with them-we are gonna be hitting up toys r us @ midnight & old navy @ 3 in the morning just to stand in line for a hr. Ugh! That means in Maine we'll be freezing our arses off!

I hate Black Friday because I have to work @ target. Hope I don't get trampled. Also, of course more people are going to come out for Black Friday, it's the only day anybody can afford shit this year.

Perez please stay out of the business of even pretending you know a thing about the economy. Granted, people do by for themselves on Black Friday but it is mostly about Christmas shopping for loved ones, not "buying crap they don't really need".
I will avoid "clicking here" as I am sure it is shameless self promotion for your ghost writer's book, which was the point of the whole post anyway.
the real concern here is how they will pay for their purchases. if it's by cc, then that will do everything but 'boost some moral in retail'. while i like to read you entertainment stuff, it'd be cool if you stay away from issues/topics you don't fully understand and better yet don't even do a extensive research on.
I would rather stick two forks in my eyes than shop on Black Friday!
