Changing lives through snowboarding
Mission
Chill provides unique and positive experiences to underserved youth through snowboarding. We give thousands of youth in local communities the opportunity to make turns that forever change lives.
What We Do
Every year, we take over 100 youth from each of our sites to the slopes. We provide them with everything they need to learn to ride: lift tickets, lessons, transportation, and head-to-toe gear. We use snowboarding to motivate youth to accomplish goals they never thought they could, while teaching them some of the most important lessons in life about patience, persistence, responsibility, courage, respect, and pride.
This winter alone, Chill will work with over 2,000 youth in 14 North American cities, Italy, Sydney (Australia), and Innsbruck (Austria)."

More New Glambert!

This is just amazing!! THIS combines physical activity, fresh air and snow. Good for the Generations that came after mine…… I am awestruck!! You are giving all sorts of people chances to have fun with people they would never normally get to meet!! Well Done!! The next world leaders MIGHT get a chance to actually meet and be with people from other lifestyles!! Works for everyone involved. I would actually love to be in the "rabbit run" lesson group…… Admittedly; it is possible that I may never master the snowboard, but I would love to try. Oh, in Canada "rabbit run" means the littlest and easiest hill; just don't want to set myself up for some REAL action by some accident of country of origins misinterpretations….
Can I go to the site in Italy?? I think I left my heart there!!!
The final chapters of the Perez Hilton game to attempt to honour the traditions of the Ramanyan Journey are coming down the wires fast. IF you have not yet understood the rules, check my posts. Anya Romanov I of the "Reserves" Neighbourhood in Guelph, Ontario. Nice neighbourhood, actually. Lots of famous celebrities live here. And, some nice regular people do also.
Anya Blah, blah, blah The Undead Again Zombie Mother of Blog-Doom
Seems like this "charity" is limited to geographical areas with access to snow. The goals and lessons in life are very difficult to connect with the act of snowboarding! Give me a tax-free break! I think they are trying to build interest in the sport to support the equipment (boards, expensive specialty clothes) sales. Bicycles are much more accessible and can be used every where. 100 youths per city? How many unfortunate "youths" do you have in your city? 10? Maybe 34? Wake Up!
nice to hear good news
Re: ViewFromHere – of course its limited to places with access to snow, because snow is required in order for the organization to function….duh. but they also serve youth in other areas that don't have snow through surfing and skateboarding. and the lessons chill teaches are VERY relevant in snowboarding. i volunteered with the program last year and i'm doing it again this year. the kids spend the time to and from the mountain talking about how these lessons relate to real life. It is 100% relevant and the kids know. they learn through the experience. and finally, obviously the numbers differ per city…but i volunteered at the New York City Chill, and i can affirm that we reached WAAAYYY over 100 kids. there were roughly 100 on the nights i worked alone. so yeah…don't denounce something positive like this until you know all the facts.
I'm so glad CHILL is getting recognition!!
It's a great program, I've been supporting it for a couple of years now.
CHILL teaches responsibility, confidence and of course the obvious physical activity
At the end of the season CHILL takes the kids to the U.S. Open and the get to ride/meet all the pros.
Its fantastic!
