Britney Spears broke the record for concert ticket sales at Sydney’s Acer Arena with 66,247 tickets sold across 4 nights.

Pretty impressive!

The pop princess edged out Coldplay from the number one spot by about 7,000 seats!

      I am not entering the debate here just stating a newly acquired opinion. Britney is the undisputed Princess of Pop. That having been said Madonna is the undisputed Queen of Pop.
      I doubt Madonna cares about the title much as I have never heard her use it professionally (unlike a certain gloved one who reveled in his title during his lifetime) and Madonna is not the only one to have been referred to as the Queen of Pop. Others given that title include Whitney, Mariah, Janet, and Celine (go to Wiklipedia, I know, and check out honorific nicknames in popular music).
      In fact Madonna was once called the Princess of Pop, therefore I think it is likely that Britney will soon be a Queen as well.

He (or she) also said that other female artists have been called Queen of Pop before. Neither statement is a lie. As far as Madonna outselling Elvis & MJ, that is not true. Elvis' estimated record sales are somewhere around 1 billion. MJ's sales are estimated around 750 million and growing. I'm glad you like, Madonna, but my God, stop acting like every other female artist is evil just because they want to be successful as well.
      PS. How would you know Madonna has never had a breakdown? Madonna is very good at hiding her insecurities.

      Well, I guess the next stop on the tour won't be a sell out with no equiptment. A tractor trailor of her crap went off the road today in Oz, and there is no way Brit-Brit could perform without all of her engineered music, voice and lights. Some true singers could do it with an acoustic guitar and a pair of jeans, but not her. If it isn't plastic, it just doesn't cut it for Brit. Hope those in Oz with tickets are prepared to get a refund. They are better off anyway.

      I have been a fan since day 1 back in high school and most recently paid an amount I am embarrassed to admit for third row tickets to S&S. I have met her in person 3 times where we talked (we have two mutual friends) and I own every CD she has released plus many remixes, leaving my i-pod with 325 Madonna songs on it. Including a 1 hour mega-mix of all her hits strung together.
      She did, however, not start out as The Queen of Pop.
      She started by doing club dates but quickly advanced to indoor arenas for her second album and outdoor stadiums for her third. She did spend some time in the 80s as the Princess of Pop to some as she was not quite up there YET with The Queen Of Rock-Tina Turner and the undisputed Queen of Soul-Aretha Franklin. I think it was with Like A Prayer that people first started using the title Queen of Pop.
      Research your shit a little bit before posting. Even a great fan of Madonna like myself admits she rarely played before 100,000 fans at once. She may have in your nation but just check the tour dates and venue capacities and you will have the correct info. Long live Madonna the Queen of Pop.

      It's not that impressive! When Madonna came to Argentina in December 2008 she made 4 shows too, but she sold 263,693 tickets… That is impressive…

      Madonna like Michael was, is, and always will be the Queen Of Pop. She's got the highest grossing tour by a solo artist in all history. In only 85 shows she sold 3,545,899 tickets and gross 408 million of dollars. That doesn't make it any artist in the whole world…

      And stupid people don't trash Madonna in that way, she may not be that famous in the United States but she is in all the rest of the world. And USA is only a country in the world, is NOT ALL THE WORLD. The most of the people in the world live out of USA. Start to to think americans!

      The Britney show was so humiliatingly terrible. No live singing. No live music. I left after 5 songs (I didn't pay for the ticket). My friend had access to 30 free tickets to one night in Brisbane due to poor sales. I waited outside for my friends and from halfway through the show people were leaving in a steady stream. It was very sad to see. Britney appeared disinterested at best.

      If she'd played at a bigger arena down here it might have been impressive. In Melbourne she played Rod Laver which holds like 15,000 people per show. If she'd played somewhere like Etihad Stadium, also in Melbourne and filled that 4 nights in a row then THAT would have been impressive. Etihad holds about 67,000 people per show and Robbie Williams filled that twice.

      Ummmm….. this venue holds 21 000 people at capacity. 4 nights sold out would equate to 84 000 tickets sold. If you are OK with Math, you will note that they were unable to sell almost 20 000 tickets across the 4 nights. Not so much a triumph when you look at the figures that way.

PINK sold out more seats and did 12 Sydney concerts, 2 different venues of equal size (Sydney Entertainment Centre and ACER arena) over a month period. That's endurance and goes to prove how much more popular PINK is. And besides, what you're not also mentioning is that people were selling Britney tix to the Sydney shows on aussie ebay for 1 cent, just to get rid of em. NOT FUCKING HARD TO FILL SEATS UP WHEN YOU'RE GIVING THEM AWAY. lol
