He must be pretty hard up at this point!

Nicolas Cage opted out of a traditional Thanksgiving in America to be part of a Christmas lighting ceremony in the town of Bath, England on Thursday.

And he was trying just a tad too hard while shouting "I love you" to the crowd and breaking out the unforgivable puns.

"I'm feeling kind of ELECTRIC right now!" said Cage.

Yikes!

      I live right next to Bath.

      Trust me, the place was PACKED because of this guy.
      It was freezing cold outside and people were out waiting for hours just to see him.

      He obviously likes there (and no wonder why - Bath's a beautiful CITY) and is willing to do that!

      At least he's doing something. His 15 minutes should have been over years ago but he's got that Coppola thing going for him. Nick is right up there with Julia Roberts, that ginger Miami CSI guy and a few others who somehow became famous by being able to be only one boring character.

      Re: Mancunian – Bath is one of the most historic places in the Uk and it's the only other city which has UNESCO status along with Venice, so it's a pretty big deal, plus he had personal reasons for doing it, he is spending his third xmas there and owns/owned three properties in the area.

      Not saying that Cage was reimbursed, as he has a house in Bath and likes to spend the holiday seasons there, but as for the above headline, everyone turns it on for the $$$$$. It's called earning a living.

      I live in Bath and the city was packed! So many people braved the cold weather to turn up and see him, waaay better than the usual z-listers we've had in the past.

      To be honest he is lovely and if you don't want him we have already told Nick he always has a home in Bath. Whether he can afford one or not!! He has spent the last couple of weeks opening hospital wards in our community inspite of having major problems of his own. You name me some celebs who can crawl outside of themselves long enough to put back - Paris take note!!!

      Perez you need to get your facts right. Being a resident of Bath my entire life I can tell you that:

      1) Bath is a CITY not a town. A World Heritage one at that. It's beautiful and small and has a bunch more charm than any American city!

      2) Nicholas Cage owns Midford Castle which is just outside of Bath, making him a resident and very popular in the city.

      3) He did NOT get paid to switch on the lights and did so out of the kindness of his heart, and the love he has for the City.

      4) He also recently opened a new NICU ward at the Royal United Hospital in Bath, which he also wasn't paid for.

      Maybe you should stop trying to kick people when they are down on their luck, and find something worthwhile to report about.
