Alec Baldwin Threatens To Leave Hollywood, Is He That Desperate For Attention?

So he says!

Alec Baldwin
is co-hosting the upcoming Academy Awards and stars on NBC's 30 Rock, but he says when his contract with the sitcom expires in 2012 he's heading out of Tinseltown — potentially for good!

The actor revealed:

"I don't have any interest in acting anymore. Movies are part of my past. It's been 30 years. I'm not young, but I have time to do something else.

"It's a difficult thing to say, but I believe it: I consider my entire movie career a complete failure. I'll tell you why. The goal of moviemaking is to star in a film where your performance drives the film, and the film is either a soaring critical or commercial success, and I never had that."

Don't be too hard on yourself, Alec!

You're easily the most successful of all your brothers and you really are hilarious on 30 Rock!

BYE BYE TAKE A FEW MORE WITH YOU DOUCHE!

    3. 3

"I consider my entire movie career a complete failure."
      What about Beetlejuice?

    4. 4

Horray he's leaving! I never got what people love about this guy… and I dont really care about his politics/life outside film and tv… I've never liked one project this guy's been on. He'll probably only leave Hollywood for a political career– and if he doesn't get that, you can bet he'll be back real quick.

    5. 5

      Andddd …. we care because?

    6. 6

Its sadly true about the career thing but I will be sad to see him go…
I hope things go well with whatever he is looking for

    7. 7

I definitely see him going into politics, or expanding his involvement in national/world affairs in some way. He consistently comes across as a very intelligent guy, so I wouldn't be surprised if we saw him run for a position or spearhead a non-profit organization.

    8. 8

      noo alec!!!

    9. 9

Time to move on……Good Luck chuck!!

He should have never gotten all like "I'm better than this" after doing the Hunt For Red October. The Tom Clancy books would have been a nice platform for a career with the big boys. I hear his interests lie in politics anyway. Too bad about that message he left for his daughter.

    11. 11

      Alec,

I am a diehard right-winger and can't wait for Sarah Palin to become POTUS…but, for some reason, I still love you and will not change the channel, just to avoid you like I do, to all the rest of the scum that are Libs…so you must be doing something right! I like when you're on the TCM channel and your input is always thoughtful. Good luck.

    12. 12

I say good for him! It takes balls to admit you have reached a point in your life when it's time for a change. Who said in order to be an actor you had to do it all your life. That goes for any profession. If you are doing something you hate for a living, you're not living. And there is nothing wrong with changing paths along the way. So, ROCK ON, Alec Baldwin! You've got BALLS… Schwetty Balls!

    13. 13

promises, promises…please go away, Baldwin. Preferably somewhere far, far away.

    14. 14

Re: That Cat – HA! Schwetty Balls… that skit NEVER gets old!!!

    15. 15

WHAT A PATHETIC PIECE OF SHIT THIS MAN IS!!

    16. 16

Well, with you being an expert in the field of Desperate For Attention…do tell

    17. 17

      what a RUDE LITTLE PIG!!

    18. 18

Like him so much better in the 80's and early 890's when he was another fine Baldwin that kept his mouth shut.

    19. 19

Has he not seen The Departed or Beetlejuice?

    20. 20

      what drama queen,,who cares

    21. 21

Don't let the door hit ya on the way out, FAT MAN! Good riddance…

      You won't be missed.

    22. 22

go gO GO… and leave the USA while you're at it dumbass!

    23. 23

      P.S.

Whatever you do, please don't do politics…your ability to pick good movie vehicles is actually far better than where you stand in politics, you choose the wrong side every single time. You just have no common sense, Alec. Just go screw various bimbos and sit at the bar and drink your sorrows away.

    25. 25

Don't let the door hit you in the ass, douchebag! Good riddance to bad rubbish!

    26. 26

Could this Big Ham's whining get any more sad? Go, please, nobody's going to stop you. You've been whining about it for 10 years, so just do it.

He won't have that second career if he doesn't start looking after himself. He needs to join a gym, practice portion control and assume a proper diet. I assume the rest of his body is as pudgy as his face.

    30. 30

Regardless of his politics and personal issues, Alec is a good actor.
And who can blame him for wanting change in his life?
It's good to be challenged ..

    31. 31

I cannot stand this egomaniacal psychopathic narcissist. He may leave Hollywood, but someone like him would never be able to leave the spotlight. So he'll probably try to run for office or something. That's just what we need. Another celebrity turned politician!

    32. 32

      whatever

    33. 33

The only reason he is leaving the movies is that he isn't that hot movie star he once was. He has aged badly. If he got in shape and lost about 60 pounds he might be, but he obviously doesn't have the self control. Some stars have careers in to their 60's and 70's because they stay attractive and in shape. Think Cary Grant, Rock Hudson, Robert Redford, Paul Newman, etc. It's too bad because he was once such an incredibly hot guy.

    34. 34

Why anyone continues to humor this ignorant bastard is beyond me. I thought he was a shitty actor and a deplorable human being before he called his daughter a 'little pig' and now I just think he's a waste of human life! Go crawl under a rock slime-ball!

    35. 35

Please tell me he's REALLY moving to France this time.

    36. 36

Can you take your brothers with you !

    37. 37

The fat jerk has threatened to leave the U.S. before but never did. Let's hope he keeps his promise this time…

I'm sure Kim Basinger won't be crying if he takes off for parts unknown.

His career's been gaining traction, particularly his foray into comedy. Stars burn out, but character roles put food on the table. Where are the feature film leading men and ladies from the eighties and nineties now? He just got a big gig emceeing. The Academy Awards show is hardly small potatoes. Just a little hard on himself here, so…sing it: 'You can't always get what you wa-ant, but if you try sometimes, well you might find, you get what you nee-eeed'….(stones)…la la la..

    39. 39

Hey bunny, Leon is lookin' for ya, needs you to come right and suck the pus outta all the sores on his asshole.

    40. 40

Great big fat rude huge-ass pig!
      Leave!
      Leave the country!
Didn't you promise to do that a few years ago?

    41. 41

It's time Alec and the rest of the "Baldwin Brothers" leave. Maybe they can hook up with Randy Quaid and his psycho wife and take them along when they go. I suggest they buy a small town WAAAAAY out in the desert and stay there….. jmo…..

    42. 42

      hell" his stupid" (obviously)

    43. 43

Beetlejuice is one of my favorite movies!! I know Michael Keaton kind of drove that, but Baldwin was good in it. I guess everyone gets burnt out, no matter what your career is.

    44. 44

That's a load of crap ! He is timeless in 30 Rock, which is right up there with Seinfeld and CYE, I lòve the show, his character and everything about it. He would be selling himself cheap by downplaying the importance of good actors on tv shows, plus there are more good actors who went without critical or commercial succes.
And Beetlejuice, Malice …. liked those a lot. Don't give up yet pls.

    45. 45

      ….. "cheap" must be "short"

    46. @v@ says – reply to this

      46

Academy Awards shows are like hockey. The actors are the players, but the Emcee is like the Club Brass. That should be his story and he should stick to it.

    47. 47

His entire movie career a complete failure?? No shit, pal. And after calling your daughter"a pig" your career as a father hit the shitter too.

    48. 48

He's wanted to leave Hollywood for a long time. He asked to leave 30 Rock like last year or the year before but they wouldn't let him out of his contract.

    49. 49

He really is the most successful of all his brothers… and the best actor of all of them… And his career really did get better once he started doing 30 Rock… Leave at your peak some say…

    50. 50

I don't think he's so desperate for attention, he just probably answerd a question. Not a big deal.
I like him, he's so good and fun on 30 rock and you all are very immature and boring, what's with the fat pig thing? Yaaaaaawn.

    51. 51

The Departed, Beetlejuice, The cooler, the aviator, working girl, ghosts of missisipi…He's starring in an upcoming Meryl Streep movie!!!

    52. 52

The best films I've seen are not mainstream successes, and their authors have to work hard just to get the funds to remain in the field. I can't think
of a better genius than David Lynch in Hollywood. And do Hollywood care?
No, they want the same goddamn boring clear-cut narratives and special effects. People, fuck your New Moon, please resist blatant commodity a little.

I wish I had his career. Acting is a tough gig, but we stuggle to do what we love. Thousands of struggling and out of work actors out there would love to have just a little taste of what he's had in his career. Shame on him for being so self depricating!

    54. 54

I loved him in My Sisters Keeper. Sad to see him go.

    55. 55

      I'll hold the door!!!

    56. 56

      Leave already! He's not even a has-been Perezzie! He's a "never-was."

    57. 57

What? Does he think anyone will miss him, NOPE! And he's telling us because?????

    58. 58

I hope Alec's comments gets him an Oscar worthy role..he's too good to quit!

    59. 59

He was only good back in his younger years, at least easy on the eyes. Ever since he called his daughter a "little pig", I haven't watched ANYTHING this prideful, narcissistic "big pig" has "starred" in. GOOD RIDDANCE. BYE! ADIOS.

    60. 60

If you think he is threating us by saying he is leaving Hollywood think about this. What if he carries out his threat to try and go into politic's that is more scarrier then him threating to leave Hollywood!!

    61. 61

      WHAT ABOUT BEETLEJUICE

    62. 62

Wasn't he supposed to move to France if W got elected? This guy i a bag of shit
