Charles Gibson Leaving ABC World News Quietly As Diane Sawyer Takes Over

They're trying to do the opposite of all the hoopla surrounding Katie Couric's takeover of CBS Evening News back in 2006!
Charles Gibson will be leaving ABC World News on Friday, December 18th with Diane Sawyer swooping in the following Monday on the 21st.
With the transition happening just a few days before Christmas as opposed to after the new year in January, ABC is hoping for a low-key change.
Sawyer is expected to leave Good Morning America on December 11th and ABC has yet to announce her replacement.

The only time I've liked Diane Sawyer was the morning after Obama's inauguration she appeared to still be verrryyyy drunk!!! Other than that she seems to snooty and affected for morning TV. Maybe nightly news will be a better place for. It's just the opposite of Katie Couric to me, I loved her personality on the Today show, and I won't even watch it since she's gone and that atrocious Meredith Viera is on there. I think Nightly News will be a better forum for Diane Sawyer.
Yes, Diane is great. She will do well. She'll be missed big time at GMA. I like Roberts and Cuomo (but…the weather guy's loud laugh irritates me) … not sure who could replace Diane.

It was a brave thing for the MP's to step down and put yourself out of a job. Newspapers in England are covering this, so Obama can't hide forever! I was so sad when Charlie left GMA-thought he had a good chemistry with the other anchors. But having learned Diane Sawyer is leaving too, damn, who's gonna be a good replacement that has the chemistry she has with Robin Roberts??

I'm going to miss her on GMA. I LOVE the GMA team. I would have liked Chris Cuomo for news anchor but maybe he is too young?? (And by that I don't mean inexperienced. You just have to be old.) They better get someone that I really like on GMA or I'll be pissed. Love Robin and Sam, too.
Having met Diane and Charlie - I can say that Ms. Sawyers is a class act. Charles Gibson will always be Charlie to me. Nice, nice man. Please ABC do not even think of replacing Diane with George Stennapolous or whatever his name is. He is sooooo lame. Perhaps you should consider Liz Cho.
