Remaking Another Classic
We've been hearing rumblings about this one for awhile now.
John Madden is in talks to direct Columbia Pictures' remake of the musical My Fair Lady.
The search will be on in 2010 for the leading roles.
Although there have been rumors that Keira Knightley is being tapped to play Eliza Doolittle, there's been no formal agreement as of yet.
The new adaptation will reportedly stick closer to the book and original play it's based on rather than the Audrey Hepburn film version from 1964.
Original London locations will be used for filming as well, including Covent Garden, Drury Lane and Tottenham Court Road.
If not Keira, who would U like to see as the iconic Eliza Doolittle?

Emily Blunt OWNS this movie remake!!! She would be perfect. She's a wonderful actress. She has the range to do it too, looking like a waif and then all glammed up. Plus they wouldn't have to worry about the accent. A better question is who would play her Professor Higgins. An older sexy guy, but also like a Simon Cowell character would do. Maybe Daniel Craig? Or Jude Law? Either one could act like Simon. I would have Stephen Fry play the Professor's friend. They would need someone colorful for her father.

Omg even I think that she is perfect for the role. Zooey would be great for such a role, she has got the look, can act and she has got that little spunk to her which I like. I'm kind of fed up always seeing the same faces taking these kind of roles.

Wow….everybody is suggesting American actresses to play a part that should be played by an English actress who will do be able to pull of the cockney accent! I would rather Hollywood would work on making sure the best that Broadway has had to offer over the years makes it to screen in a high quality and tasteful manner.
There is no book per se to stick closer to, it is said that it will stick closer to Shaw's play Pygmalion and to the story of the stage musical, not play, My Fair Lady.
The point being the stage musical and Shaw's original have a dramatically different ending than the movie, a major, major difference.
