Remaking Another Classic

wenn2328153mfl.jpg

We've been hearing rumblings about this one for awhile now.

John Madden is in talks to direct Columbia Pictures' remake of the musical My Fair Lady.

The search will be on in 2010 for the leading roles.

Although there have been rumors that Keira Knightley is being tapped to play Eliza Doolittle, there's been no formal agreement as of yet.

The new adaptation will reportedly stick closer to the book and original play it's based on rather than the Audrey Hepburn film version from 1964.

Original London locations will be used for filming as well, including Covent Garden, Drury Lane and Tottenham Court Road.

If not Keira, who would U like to see as the iconic Eliza Doolittle?

    4. 104

Well, keira has the guttersnipe accent already, but can she pull off proper
      spoken english?

    5. 105

Leave it Alone. Some things just can't be improved upon.

    6. 106

The lady who can replace Audrey Hepburn hasn't been born, and she never will be.

    7. 107

This shouldn't be remade just like all of the movies being remade in Hollywood's next few years schedule. But if does, anyone but Keira!

shitz dont remake a classic. audrey hepburn was perfect in this show and so was Rex Harrison. I'm 28 but these movies are still relevant.

Hollywood must be running dry of script ideas that all they know now is to REINVENT THE WHEEL.

    9. 109

Kristen Chen. If she can speak cockney……..

    10. 110

      Marillon Cotillard

I think Keira is the perfect choice and will land her the Oscar she deserves!!

    14. 114

anne hathaway…. i GUESS. but PLEASE PLEASE Do not remake this!!!! it's perfect as it is.

    15. 115

But who'll do the singing? Remember, it isn't Audrey Hepburn's voice singing in the film: it's American Opera singer Marni Nixon. My choice (both acting and singing) is Susan Boyle; with Simon Cowell as Henry Higgins!

    16. 116

ANYONE but Keira!! That annoying bitch destroys everything she touches!! She shouldn't even have a career in Hollywood. I hope this fucking movie bombs.

    17. 117

I think Kate Winslet would have been a better choice.

    18. 118

NATALIE PORTMAN ALL THE WAY! BOO KIERA

    19. 119

I HATE this idea. Argh LEAVE great films alone.

I agree with people who said Audrey Tatou though. I think she'd add grace and beauty to one of my favorite films of all time.

    20. 120

      Natalie Portman DUH!

    21. 121

NOOOOOooooooo there's no reason whatsoever to remake this iconic movie! And nobody could replace the equally iconic Audrey Hepburn. Are there just no new ideas in Hollywood anymore?

    22. 122

Kristen Stewart HAHAHAHHAHAHA that was clearly a joke :P

    23. 123

you will only no her if your a brit. but i just thought of the perfect choice. BILLIE PIPER. she can do both upper class and cockney accent. she a fab actress and has done period drama's before. and she is very pretty.

plays rose tyler in doctor who, and belle in secret diaries of a call girl

    24. 124

If they insist on remaking this classic (which they shouldn't–look what happened when they remade Willy Wonka), then Zooey Deschanel or Penelope Cruz.

      Re: Steph83

I agree with Steph that Natalie Portman wouldnt be the best fit as she does have difficulty with an English accent as seen in the Other Boleyn Girls and V for Vendetta, I dread to see how she would cope with two different English dialects.

Carey Mulligan would be my current frontrunner but would depend on if she could actually sing, also Anne Hatthaway could be a great choice.
