Richie To Star In AND Create Her Own TV Show
Looks like there's just no resting for Nicole Richie.
The mom of two not only designs clothes and jewelry, but now she wants to add actress to her resume.
Richie took to her website yesterday to announce the news that she'd be starring in a new show for ABC. And not only that, she'll also be creating the show!
Says Richie, "I am so excited to announce that I am officially working on a television project! I am creating a half hour scripted comedy for ABC in which I will be starring in, as well as producing."
As for the show concept, Nic reveals:
"The story revolves around a young, modern and professional woman who must balance her business and family relationships. She must deal with, and navigate the many ideas of what a woman’s role is: modern vs. traditional."
Is that supposed to be art imitating life, Richie? She goes on to add:
"Lately, I have been surrounded by many different women of all ages and walks of life. It amazes me to watch and observe how many different ideas there are about what a woman’s role should be in this era. I’ve taken these fascinating ideas, and compiled them into something that I think will be very special (and funny!). We’re still in the very early stages and I can’t wait to share more with you soon!"
What do U think? Is this a smart venture or should she stick to reality TV?

I couldn't even tell you why, but Nicole Richie bugs me SO MUCH! She's not even one of those annoying little Miley Cyrsuses or fame whore like Lindsanity but every time I see a blog about her on this site I just want to kick a kitty. I think it's because she is so different from how she used to be… And not even in a bad way, but like I said… I have no idea where this hatred comes from!

I like her. I think she has totally turned it around since her Paris Hilton partying days. She uses her celebrity status for good charities… The tv show sounds a little boring though…
I'd watch. Loves her. We were all young once. We've all done dumb stuff and said dumb stuff. She's grown up now and I would definatly watch. I hope it lasts a few seasons. Like 10. Lol

Ugh…it bugs me that if you have any sort of connection to any other famous person you can just come up with any idea and actually get a show! Like a *normal* person would have a chance to do that. I guess it's all about who you know, though, not about what you are actually capable of doing.

Wow, how interesting, how origional, a woman balancing family and work, never seen THAT on TV before. Then again, I shouldn't expect anything origional from Ritchie, after all, she is only famous because she tagged along with Paris Hilton. If she wants me to believe she had a hand in creating the show, do it about an annorexic drug addict who cleaned up her act and now has a family. At least then we'd know the idea came from her.
This kind of program has been done a thousand times over. Please come up with something more original. I agree that TV is lacking in women-centric comedic dramas, but his just sounds boring.
I'd check it out..I think Nicole is cool.

When I talked to her, the new show was going to be called, "The Simple Wife," about a Hollywood brat with no real talent except what she can do with her mouth. Each episode involves her trying to "get" as many producers as she can to like her "work".
Motherhood comes last in this girls lame life. No one really cares about her anymore. She is nothing except the adopted daughter of Lionel's cracked out sister!
I think that she has a good idea.
Women are really stuck when it comes to being the "fierce, independent, business woman" and the "demure, housewife, that cooks and cleans"
It is hard to find a happy medium.
Hopefully she does a good job, since this COULD have some potential.
I'm not a super fan of Nicole but I give her a lot of credit for the life she now lives. I'm not much of a television viewer, but she gets points for the fact that this will be a scripted show and not another boring worthless reality show. Good for Nicole. I wish her the best.

I think she'll be AMAZING! SHE is the ONLY reason The Simple Life did well! Paris was dumb and boring but Nicole ROCKED IT! She's hilarious and will do well! She's an amazing mother and has grown into an awesome woman!
Frankly, I'm utterly sick of celeb children. Nicole has even LESS of a reason for unearned fame, considering she doesn't share a single drop of her rich (adopted) father's blood. So why should she have his talent, either? I'm sick of people getting rich and famous for doing nothing, being themselves, or doing "normal" things like raising kids. F-U, that does not make you a celebrity! That makes you a boring shmuck, in a world full of shmucks! Only Hunter S Thompson and those old, hard drugged-out writers were interesting enough to follow around with a camera. Reality TV is the devil and I don't want to see trendy "professional motherhood" spread to any more ignorant young girls…
I doubt this will get to pilot stage and certainly not past it.
I think motherhood is a noble profession to which she is well suited by all accounts, why not stick with that (no sexism meant, just Nicolism).
Why have kids if you're not into raising them?
Re: DaniellO – actually her real life father is very talented he is Sheila E's brother and Pete Escovedo's son actually all of Pete's kids are accomplished musicians…so it is even more embarrassing that she has non of biological family or adoptive familys talent…but then look at Sean Lennon and Lisa Marie Presley must cause ur parents are talented does not mean the apple is going to fall and land anywhere near the tree….
