The Michael Jackson documentary This Is It will be available for purchase on DVD on January 26, 2010.
Too late to be a stocking stuffer for this year.
The DVD features MJ's final performances in two documentaries, Staging the Return: Beyond the Show and Staging the Return: The Adventure Begins.
The flick has grossed over than $70 million in the US alone, so hopes are high for DVD sales. Though releasing it after the holidays might hurt the numbers a bit.

I have seen This Is It 4 times in the theaters. I find it fascinating. Of course I will buy the DVD. A truly remarkable documentary.

I'll be buying 2! one for me and one for my mom! i was hoping it would go on sale for Christmas but its OK. My mom loves him. I can remember growing up in the 80's and watching Moonwalker and The Wiz hundreds of times with her. I know she'll LOVE it!

You helped me change many of my opinions about the person and artist (I never even told you Scream is one of my top 10 songs of all time, the mix where they swear, and video as well). I was on Wikipedia (I know a dubious source often) but on the MJ entry I went to the first article in the notes section and clicked on it.
The article is a Wall Street Journal article about MJ's (and others') album sales. I was wondering where you stand on this . I think the point is everybody has exaggerated and inaccurate sales figures and that before 1991 there was no accurate way to count sales. It seems to be inarguable that Thriller is the best selling album worldwide ever but total MJ sales of 750 million? Is it closer to 350 million? Let me know your thoughts I respect them.

Regarding his record sells ( I believe you were referring to his total amount of all albums sold) I do believe that 750 million seems about right even if basing it off of Thrillers success alone. Alot of people fail to realize that though it took Michael a good 6-8 years to release albums, all his albums sold extremely well. That including Invincible. Though Invincible didn't sell as well as Thriller or even Dangerous etc., it still out sold alot of albums from other artist of that year and years prior.
Re: ap076 – I have also always wondered about how and who actually sits up and tabulates things like this but obviously someone is doing it and did it well enough to look at his sells compared to other artist sells and off of that place Michael in things like the Guinness Book of World Records several times. To be quite honest, I think "Thriller" could easilly be at or close to 350 million sold. I don't trust Wikipedia either but one thing I saw on there awhile ago seems true.. regarding "Thriller" selling about 1 million per week at it's peak. To take numbers like that and compare it to the way it sold during the years after, especially taking into consideration the increase in Thriller's sells after his passing ;( (I hate saying that.) Also I don't think Michael is the only artist with numbers this high. There have only been a few, and there will only be a few who can sell records like this.

Around 350 million seems more resonable for Thrillers total number sold. And I said b4 that 750 million albums seemed more logical for TOTAL number of all his albums sold but after thinking about it that seems too low if taking into account his total amount worldwide. Who will ever know?? All I know is Michael sells records like no other lol

I knew but phrased poorly that MJ sold 750 million different albums and Thriller is estimated in the 110 Million Range. Not including the millions sold of Thriller 25 which is the copy I own because I had Thriller on Vinal and then casette, then CD and now digital. The article is really about inflated sales figures and seems well researched. It cites the whole record industry.
