ATW, I have the solution to cheating: Open Marriage. I have one and although we can't do what we want totally, we can, with the others permission, have a date with someone else. We always practice safe sex as well. So my husband and I have agreed, no lies, no deception and with the fact in mind it is VERY hard to be faithful - but our marriage and family is precious to us. It works for us, and we are a normal-looking family. We don't "swing" but I do occasionally meet an old friend for a date and my husband, who is a CEO, sometimes sees an old flame. But i always know he comes home to me and loves me. We just occasionally like to do other people! That may be one of the only realistic ways for a couple to stay together. I think there are many marriages that are open but the couple doesn't say it outright. The wife (I think often it is) just tolerates the flimsy excuses and long absences without questions because they don't want to divorce and they do love their husbands.
I'm sure a lot of people would disagree with us, but I kind of think marriage–a civil and economic agreement—doesn't mean you won't be attracted to someone else or unhappy with your spouse ever. Put the two together in a relationship where the partners don't feel they can be honest and you have a divorce.
