      Meredith emits a quiet class. I wish her the best on the journey she is on. It's both personal and political. While outing anyone against their will is wrong I don't think this is why she came out. She came out to live at peace with herself. The guilt of hiding who you are is overwhelming. Lying gets harder. And living with the person you love and still hiding is poison that will kill. Get out in the sun Meredith and welcome to the walk of freedom or as Alicia Keys is saying it, "the elements of freedom"…

      Okay, this longtime reader has registered just to ask: Courageous and inspiring, are you out of your mind? Meredith sat in safe silence during the Prop 8 campaign, while anti-gay forces took away a civil right - marriage- from gay man and woman using the vile and successful tactic of convincing voters that gays are out to get your kids. Now that Meredith has come out, she can enjoy the civil rights protections that inspiring gay men and lesbians courageously died for. I'm sure she will go to the head of the class as a "Gay Leader," just like Wanda Sykes, who also came out after Prop 8. We could have used Meredith's image during our Hail Mary attempt to counter anti-gay attacks by using an ad with all mothers! If Meredith is courageous, then so is Tyger Woods for coming out as a cheater AFTER HE GOT CAUGHT.

      same thing occurred to me at 42 and with three children - but the continued issue that I have with all of this, however, is why does admitting that you are gay have to be some huge "revelation" as noted in the banner? it's like we're being forced to admit something that society has already predetermined is either deviate or repugnant - and we're apologizing for it - I think that the better interview would have been to question Matt Lauer if he enjoyed being anally penetrated by his spouse during their lovemaking or to have asked him, "when did he first realize that he was heterosexual?"

      I am glad she came out, though it would have been a little more relevant when the California gay marriage debate was occurring rather than to keep in front of the tabloids (and really not even in front).
      I hope you are not taking this interview as a green light to out people. Although it may benefit the political, ultimately it still is and should be a personal decision.

      I still watch Family Ties every week. I get the DVDs from the library. She will always be one of my favorite actresses of ALL time. And sometimes I have to wait to get the next DVD so she defintely has tons of fans out there still.
