As album sales numbers came in, we find Susan Boyle riding high at #1 with 700,000 albums sold!!
But, she's not alone at the top! She's joined by Glambert's For Your Entertainment at #3 and Gagaloo taking #5 and #6 with The Fame Monster EP and Deluxe releases.
Although, Shakira can't be as happy. The diva bombed by selling only 89,000 albums and coming in at #15!
Guess we all can't be selling it like SuBo! Who would have guessed it.

I don't follow Shaki too closely, but she hasn't done badly at all. Maybe she just had one blockbuster release in her, but that's more than most of us get. SuBo is temporary. Her flat, boring voice and public thumb sucking will begin to wear on even the most sentimental fans.

let me wrap this up for you, many people download music now a days and there are a LOT of places to get it for free, with so many people having ipods and crap like that today its pointless to buy a cd. However, you have the older people (not much older, just my moms age) who only listen to cd's, therefore, will go out and buy the cd, so before you tank record sales, maybe do some research into what the demographic is now a days. oh, and CD's are expensive, anyone who is younger and still buys cd's cant afford to do that, especially around the holidays (i'm flat broke, no xmas present to myself this year, again) and in Shakira's defense, she really didn't do all that much advertisiing unlike the other ones.
Who buys ANYTHING these days …WOW with Free Downloads and the music EVERYWHERE else NO NEED to BUY ALBUMS Anymore unless you JUST want to solely support your artist

Glambert is the #1 pop album this week and he's the second highest debut for a new artist this year behind the Susan Boyle machine. That's very good. He still needs a hit single though.

I am VERY surprised that Adam Lambert is #3. I thought Lady Gaga would have beaten him. Heck, I thought HE'D be in Shakira's spot.
I like Shakira, but she's a total sell-out. She seems to be completely ignoring her latin roots, which is what made her famous in the first place. She used to be this hot latina who could belly dance like nobody's business, now she's just another blonde bimbo who's trying to sound just like any other American pop starlet out there.
Wow…I have mixed feelings about the SuBo phenom but I am impressed to see substance of some kind over style. Sorry, Shakira - your album is still great!

I would have guessed it you freaking moron. There is a vast dearth of true talent out there, with everyone being either mediocre, sooo done before, or studio/electronically manufacturered. It is nice just to be able to sit back and listen to a beautiful voice once in a while without a gimmick attached. I only hope she survives the machine that will chew her up and spit her out while squeezing every dime it can out of her.
I think Lambert will bounce back but obviously making some decisions on his own/during the performance did not help him. In the beginning you need to stick with the professionals advice (Kelly Clarkson and her record label, remember?) and not make your own decisions unless you're a marketing genius.

she sold 174,000 copies of The Fame Monster, and 151,000 copies of The Fame in one week. for an album from August 2008, and a re-release of that same album to take up two spots in the top 10, that's good. she came in 2nd, putting the two together.

In Shakira's defense her album was released a full month ahead all over Europe and other countries before it was released here. So people were probably already downloading her stuff off of Limewire befor the U.S. release. I know I had the whole lyrics memorized before I even bought the album. Which goes to show that Shakira does not care about album sales & numbers as much as everyone else and I love that about her. Re: sarainadream – Adam kind of gets fourth place in spirit since Monster is number 5 with 174,000 sold but The Fame (both with and without added Monster, they count as the same album) rose in sales 490% from #39 to #6 (151,000) which can almost certainly be attributed to the addition of The Monster tracks. That would unofficially put her sales at about 320,000, all due to The Monster tracks. She would then theoretically surpass Lambert, Bocelli, and Rhianna. But that is not how the tabulating is done so a well deserved #3 (perhaps with an *) for Adam.
