Rudolph & His Red Honker Still Have It!

There was a Christmas miracle last night and we're not just talking about the lights going on at Rockefeller Center last night.

No, it seems the holiday season is most definitely upon us and while NBC pulled in bigger ratings with the Christmas at Rockefeller Center special than they have all year (thank you NABET), it was CBS who won the night by broadcasting the classic Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer.

That crazy claymation reindeer brought in 10.7 million viewers at the 8 o'clock spot, with the tree at 30 Rock close behind with 8.8 million viewers.

Suck on that, Frosty! Let's see how well you do!

I've watched this every year since I was 3 yrs old on Christmas Day - we always have it playing while opening our gifts… Plus the Heat Miser and Ice Miser one.. Classic!!! (Little Drummer Boy too sad though!).

It's because the movie has been such a huge part of culture…such nostalgia… it never gets old…It's a sure sign the Holidays are upon us!!!

I was so happy to see it on television this year . . . It's sad that children who don't have cable can't see so many of the classics. It will only get worse now that Comcast has purchased a chunk of NBC.

Rudolph brings back so many great memories for me and my family - we still laugh about Herbie wanting to be a dentist instead of an elf! And while some of the toys like the "Charlie in the box" and Cowboy riding an ostrich aren't the high-tech toys of today, the misfits-fitting-into-society theme is still timely today! Rudolph rules!

My family watched it with my daughters last night. They love it.

My fave is THE YEAR WITHOUT A SANTA CLAUS. Santa is suffering clinical depression and cancels Christmas !
The brothers Heat-miser and Snow-miser both do really gay song and dance numbers. The boys are then yelled at by their domineering Mother Nature to help Mrs. Claus. It's just off enough to be slyly enjoyable and still cute enough to make you feel good (without a cavity).

Santa is a dick in this show, he treats Rudolph like shit until he needs him.

Charlie Brown Christmas is the best though.

It's SNOW miser, not ICE miser.
