The beautiful Portia de Rossi appeared on The View today and spoke about her relationship with Ellen DeGeneres and gay marriage.

She had some really beautiful things to say and made some AMAZING points about civil rights in this country!

We also love how she stood up for herself when Elizabitch opened her big, dumb mouth!

      Portia is lovely! Before this, I only knew her as the really gorgeous girl that is married to Ellen. It's so nice to see that she's not only gorgeous but smart and very poised, too. I agree with her. Even if you gave gay people the same exact rights as straight people concerning marriage but called it a different word, it still wouldn't be good enough. It's about equality in all forms, including the title of marriage.

The whole point Portia is making is that why should the majority decide what the minority can have? I mean, HELLO that's regressive!       When someone tells you they oppose gay marriage….be VERYYY careful around that person. They ae almost always the ones with the most skeletons in their closet (Carrie Prejean, anyone?) but unlike gays, they don't have the courage to be honest with who they are.       I absoulutely and completely agree with Portia, however, I think you're a moron, Perez. Changing someone's name (someone who was very kind to you on her show a few days ago) from Elizabeth to 'Elizabitch' is completely unnecessary. Joy asked the same damn question that Elizabeth did only Elizabeth gave an example. She specifically stated that it was just an example. And, unfortunately, there are obviously a lot of Californians who identify with that example. So instead of villainizing Elizabeth, maybe you can be thankful that she posed the question so that Portia had an opportunity to speak as eloquently as she did. It's called a talk show for a reason.       Marriage is between a man and woman people. If it were intended that same sexes be together, than there wouldn't be two sexes. this is why same sexes cannot procreate. it's just nature. Society has been trying to defy the laws of nature since the beginning of time and along the way values lost. I don't condemn anyone whose gay. I'm not God, but a civil union maybe but not marriage. She was asking a question, and in no way criticized Portia or her views (and rights if I may say). As a Christian, I am appalled at others' use of the Bible to discriminate against anyone, including homosexuals. During that particular interview, Elizabeth did not do that.

She brought up a valid discussion point, which Portia answered very, very well… and because Joy (not Elizabeth) brought up the subject that Elizabeth asked about, those who watched the View got to see an intelligent, politically-minded gay person give an objective and informed answer to a question that, I'm sure, is asked by many.

      As a gay man, you should be happy that such important questions were brought up on one of the major daytime broadcasts. I am a major supporter of equal civil liberties, and I'm glad that the View stepped up and thoroughly discussed one of today's most important issues.

      did you really watch this clip before commenting on it because as far as I can see, Elizabeth just piped up and reasked what Joy already had brought up. Doesn't anyone realize that one of the biggest reasons that Prop 8 (HATE) passed, is because it was worded so that people thought they needed to vote FOR Prop 8 for gay marriage to pass?!?!?       As a person who studies the Bible, you misquoted the meaning of that verse. That verse refers to Christians being "ONE" in Christ. If you read the verse before that, it says "For ye are all the children of God by FAITH in Christ Jesus." If you're gonna quote scripture, make sure you understand it. Especially with verses like, Romans 1:26-27 "For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. "

      Yes, God is love. He loves everyone. I am not trying to turn this into a debate. He does say in the Bible it is wrong. I am just tired of people taking the Bible and twisting it to support something that God states He doesn't.

      I love my home state of Massachusetts, home of the suffragette and abolition movements, ground zero for the American Revolution, and a place where gay marriage has existed for 6 years without the sky falling and great rating in all sociatal measurements.
