Legalize pot!! Its the civilized thing to do and would stimulate our ecomony.

The only downside would be the regulations of the drug and price increase. Plus, all the little home town dealers would be forced to go out of business.

Studies do show that in places like Amsterdamn where the drug isn't "legal" just regulated, Heroin and Meth use have dropped drastically.

I am personally against prostitution, non violent crimes and pot however….. I am studying sociology in university and I believe that the question the kid was getting at was the fact that these types of transactions go on all the time. They will happen no matter if they're legal or not and the profits for those involved are huge. By taxing them it would create another venue to stimulate the economy. For example, smoking cigarettes. It's legal even though it is damaging to everyone’s health and it relies on those addicted to the product to consume. It also has to hook new consumers in because its previous consumers will die off. It however is taxable and is a huge contributor to the economy. I don't agree with the kid’s statement but he was taking a sociological perspective. Beside, corporations are one of the most manipulative and a criminal aspect of society but it’s legal because it benefits those who are in high class positions. Basically corporations are crime that’s legal. So what the kid is saying… we might as well take some benefit on these crimes that will happen anyways. I don't agree, but it's interesting to hear his perspective.

Re: hair-on-me – Actually, the latest polls are in favor of a majority to legalize pot. It'd be a huge boon to states and federal taxes. It could save lives by people being able to get it easily for three reasons - no drug deals gone bad over stupid pot, no chance of death over something laced and no one stuffed into jail for tiny amounts to get shanked. It would free up prisons by THOUSANDS leaving room for dangerous criminals in there, actually reducing overall crime. It's less dangerous and harmful than alcohol as well. But then again - I look at facts rather than sensationalism. Let's take your own "problems" quote: economy - legal farms create thousands of jobs, also creating stores with more income to hire more people….. healthcare - people are able to use a cheaper source for pain management rather than thousand dollar scrips, reducing costs to federal programs AND the public…. a weakening dollar - goes up based on an entire new sector with jobs, healthcare, and new sectors in farming…. dwindling global supremacy - increases when we use less in pharmaceuticals, less in healthcare, lower prison rates, tighter sentencing, also leading to reducing court costs… and freeing up billions in taxes to be used on state and federal improvement without raising a single tax.

I dont smoke pot but i for one dont think its that bad, i have enough people in my life who do smoke pot (actually, i'm the odd one out) and there isn't anything really bad or life threatening like that. As for prostitution, why the hell not again? Its the oldest profession in the world really and was only made bad by a few prudes who got their way. So i'm all for legalizing both of them!

I'm for legalizing, regulating, and taxing both of them! Some may say "prostitution spreads aids". First of all, sex with anyone who has aids can spread aids, whether its with a prostitute or a college kid whose a little too promiscuous. Second of all, that's why it should be regulated. I mean I don't have all the answers but make STD and AID testing mandatory on a month to month or whatever basis, IDK. I do know that taxing it would create lots of money for our economy and make it less dangerous and drop crime related to prostitution. Same with the pot thing, less drug deals gone wrong, less harmful (like someone said being laced iwth something), and a hell of a lot more money. People still and will always do both of these. Our economy is in such a shitter, why not?

1.) Titties, that really isn't the case at all. It's really small-minded to generalize in that way on a topic like drugs. You must of gotten your facts from John Walters himself. Anyways, firstly, being that our last three presidents have indulged in a substance of which you can't over dose from unless you want to smoke a thousand joints in 20 minutes- have at it…by your logic they have the potential to be hard drug users. It ALWAYS depends on the type of personality a person has and many other extraneous variables like what environment they are growing up in and especially who they get it from. Since it is in the black market, some ignoramuses like to go downtown to shady places with even shadier people and since marijuana has the largest demand of any intoxicant (illegal or legal) some like to sell maybe something else on the side- since hey we humans aren't the most ethical of creatures. And if the guy on the corner likes to drug his customer base he'll slip in maybe something else maybe to get him hooked on a little something else prohibition (not necessarily and though not especially pot mind you) creates shady people for various personal reasons.

Unfortunately, people can't use advertising and lawyers in a free enterprise system which is why drugs are heavily inflated at a high unfortunate prices. As it varies across the nations depending where it goes and how it gets there. And maybe you know some people that actually have done what you described (good for you)- but that's just it…..it is only YOU. i think legalizing pot is ok…alcohol is worse than pot in alot of ways and i don't smoke pot. prostitution….no….morally speaking, this country would be in alot of trouble if this happened. no more family instituitons…to easy to get it. a woman's body is sacred…what ever happened to that? or even for a man to be a prostitute.

If legalized, the drug dealers would have to move on, or actually get a real job, because nobody would buy weed from a dealer. They can get their choice of weed at the local pub. your reasoning for not legalizing is because drug dealers would lace it? Dealers would not pay so they can lace the weed later and resell it for more. Nobody would buy it. They can get very potent weed at the store.
