SuBo Is A Strange Diva!
But then again, she is coming into the diva realm a little late in life, so we'll cut her some slack!
Susan Boyle was rather peculiar at the taping of a forthcoming TV special in England. It seems SuBo has had enough with all the dreariness related to her act and tried to spice things up a bit.
Halfway through performing a ballad called Who I Was Born To Be, she began to do a wild jig across the stage. A source from the show said the moment was very "odd and out of character," so much so, that the producers asked her to perform the song again.
She did, but again she broke out into her strange little dance! The show source recalls:
“Susan just looked like she was doing it as a break from the seriousness and the pressure of having to sing throughout a show. It’s going to give us a bit of a headache – we will have to edit around it.”
That wasn't the only bit of heartache the Scot sensation gave the producers. The finale of the show finds Susan singing her signature song, I Dream A Dream, with the entire cast of Les Miserables.
During the first taping, she coughed during the performance, so producers begged her to perform it again. She replied, “Don’t be greedy, I’m not gonna do it again.”
Thankfully for the crew, she was only joking and she eventually agreed to a second take.
She sure isn't any Whitney or Barbra! (Maybe, with a little time!)

if she was very attractive nobody would give her two looks. it was just the surprise that made people like her, so i'm even more fucking surprised that now she STILL is wowing people, seeming as she's not even that good of a singer… in my opinion.

I was shocked when I heard her sing on "Dancing With the Stars". She really does have a beautiful voice. I assumed she was all falsetto, operatic-like, but she's not. She has a very sweet, lilting voice and is young-sounding. But she definitely didn't dance!
I think that's called stimming. It's a trait of autism—an quirky little mannerism that helps the person deal with stress. Often, they can't control it. They also say what they are thinking and have some emotional immaturity.
I wish someone would go ahead and diagnose her and discuss this publicly because I think most people would be much more understanding.
I don't think this is a mental illness. I really think some range of autism. Aspergers.

I was there. She did a few dance steps in one place. The audience cheered because it was fun. She was NOT asked to do it again because of the dance. She did two different versions - one soft, one belting, as planned.

Your "source," The Mirror, is a TABLOID. The Daily Mail already took a similar story down after threats of a lawsuit, which would be successful based on video.

Unfortunately, I don't think a lot of people would be more understanding if Susan's admitted disability were discussed in more detail. When they began discussing it after BGT, there was an outcry in Britain that suggested she shouldn't have been allowed to compete on BGT. Simon was investigated by the gov. Susan's own wishes weren't discussed. Even now, with Susab Boyle admitting she has brain damage and a disability, there are stupid articles like this that call her "strange." She's disabled, people. And it's amazing what she achieved.
Prediction is she is going to be #1 for the third week in a row on the US charts with sales near or over 600,000. Queen Boyle is the real American Idol.

Exactly what part of this story made her a DIVA????? So, she did a little dance…she did a couple of quirky moves on her BGT audition. Remember the expression on the audience members? I LOVE HER AND ALL OF HER QUIRKINESS!!!

Not everyone can fit into a box that dictates how to behave in certain situations. This woman has been through a lot in her life. She is beautifully different and unique. Being normal is subjective anyway.

I'm so glad someone else will discuss this. I'm a bit astonished that so many people think she is "difficult" or "demanding" or "dumb" or "bipolar" when she obviously has issues that go beyond these.
It IS incredible what she has accomplished and I wish the autism tag wasn't such a stigma that it can't be mentioned. I wish it could be celebrated as more people with learning disabilities find a way to fit into this culture in ways they haven't been allowed to before.
It's terrible that the show began questioning whether she should be allowed to compete, and that Simon was investigated.
I hope we move beyond all this and appreciate all people for who they are—without having to hide so much of themselves.
Susan is the real deal, without the trappings of show business. I like Barbra, never cared for Whitney at all, but I LOVE Susan and her spunky irreverence. It may be the childlike quality that endears us. She is here to stay.

I think part of the issue is that she's endured so much torment all of her life for being the one with brain damage that she hasn't been comfortable discussing it. However, I highly recommend her latest interview, where she gets closer to the topic than ever before. Check out Sunriseon7 - a morning show in Australia. Long interview. Says her life was "hellish" because of the disability.

This is exactly the problem. So you would like disabled people to hide in their homes, go away?? No. Susan Boyle simply needs a bit of extra support - sort of like someone pushing a wheelchair - and then she can accomplish incredible things - as she already has. She's tough, smart and determined. Watch her interview on Australia's Sunrise tv. She discusses her abilities.
