According to reports, Chris Brown is on track to sell around 95,000 to 100,000 copies of his new album, Graffiti, in his first week.

Not too bad, except when you consider his last album sold three times as many, nearly 300,000 in its first week.

OUCH!

But even bigger news is that SuBo is expected to push 600,000 albums in her third week!

Wowsa!

      It was such a bad idea for Chris Brown to release an album this year; "the incident" is extremely fresh on everybody's mind, plus album sales are way, way down this year. If he had focused on mending his image more and releasing a comeback album 2 or 3 years down the line, it might have been somewhat successful. But now, he'll just meet with the brunt of Chris Brown backlash.

      You may have reported this elsewhere, but Adam Lambert had a free-fall in his second week. His sales dropped 74% (the highest out of the entire top 200). Although sales are expected to fall off the second week nobody expected/predicted this kind of drop off.
      The controversy did not help but the trouble seems to lie in singles land. His songs are not getting radio play so they are entering (or re-entering) the Hot 100 one week and falling out the next week. His next single is much better and should have more success and slow and steady can win the album race so anything is possible. I think a very early 2010 tour would also help.

      Kris Allen seems to be doing OK in the Hot 100 with his single sitting in the 40-50 range for several weeks, but unable to reach the Top 40 on the Hot 100 Chart. His album sales are at like 135,000 and he has fallen out of the top 50 in the Billboard 200. I would tend to agree with Allen's fans decrying the lack of serious label support and publicity.
      I know he may not want to go in this direction but he is a devout Christian and he could probably carve out a sizable and profitable place for himself in the Christian Rock world if he chose to.

      Although down 45%, The Fame moved up a notch to number 5 due in no small part to the addition of the Monster tracks. Fortunes were mixed as the EP (can anyone name the last EP with this kind of success and it was generous to the fans so they did not have to re-buy The Fame if they did not want to), The Monster has fallen to number 13. Gaga continues to be a singles, especially digital…….well for lack of a better term Monster. She can really move singles.

      There are many artists who are feeling the effects of the recession. Not too many CDs are selling well. It's common knowledge. They're listening to it. But with modern technology, burning CDs is as easy as purchasing a candy bar. Leave CB alone. His CD is FIRE!

      As for Rihanna, I was pleasantly surprised by her latest CD. It's solid….just needed one dance track and it would be perfect.

      Rihanna's career trajectory has been consistent. "Rated R" sold more in its first week than any of her previous CDs, including "Good Girl Gone Bad." She had that huge hit "Umbrella" with "Good Girl Gone Bad" but "Rated R" debuted with more copies. Plus, "Rated R" has given her her best reviews and more creative control (she co-wrote and executive produced her CD).
      Rihanna sells more in the long term, not the first week. That's just her way.

      But Chris Brown makes most of his sales the first week and then doesn't go on to sell a ton more. First week sales are crucial for him. I bet this CD barely makes it to gold, regardless of what his first week sales are. It's an OK disc but other than "I Can Transform U" there are not a lot of singles on it. I think he should have waited a year to put out a disc.

      Chris Breezy Brown CD is Great, Chris Breezy has at least 9 songs that could make it on the number 10 billboard easily. Fallout, Lucky me, IYA, What I do, Pass Out, Wait, Cruel, Take My Time and we know I Can Tranform ya made it in the top 10. First CD to have so many good party jams on it.

      I brought the cD at Wal-Mart for 13.88, I also preordered the spcial 2 disc CD from his store on his web for 20.00 dollars. It comes with a poster and a second CD with songs that are not with the store CD's.
