Mayday for Flight Of The Conchords
This is bound to be upsetting to the fans!
The Flight of the Conchords will NOT be returning to HBO for a third season. Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement have issued an official statement saying:
"We’ve noticed the less we say about the future of the show, the more people want to talk about it, so in an effort to reverse this trend, we are today announcing that we won’t be returning for a 3rd season.
"We’re very proud of the two seasons we made and we like the way the show ended. We’d like to thank everyone who helped make the show and also everyone who watched it. While the characters Bret and Jemaine will no longer be around, the real Bret and Jemaine will continue to exist."
Sad, but we're sure they'll both find another outlet for their comedic talents!

Hey Perez, I just saw the youtube clip of KTLA explaining what happened with you earlier this week. You AND your staff should be embarrassed beyond belief. How dare you insist people adjust their schedules for you, then have your little loser minions call back later and ask to be back on the show. What sam said was right, I think your popularity is going to fade with this decade, you represent what went wrong in the last ten years, and just know you will reap what you sow.

I really tried to like this show but just could not get into it…sucks for the fans though. As long as Always Sunny stays on, I'm good.
I liked the first season that was plenty for me. But it should be noted this show and it's music received multiple Emmy and Grammy nominations.
the only funny part of this show was the characters that surrounded them. their manager was great

I think it was a good decision. Theye rushed the songs for the second series and while I liked the shows I wasnt so into the songs. The original songs - from the first series had been around for years and I think the show was written for the songs rather than the other way around which was better.
Oh Murray how I will miss you though (although Rhys seems to be popping up in nearly ever TV ad in New Zealand at the moment!)
This is not bad news. FOTC is awesome, but it's good that they're ending it before it gets old and unfunny *cough*TheOffice*cough*.

Real fans of FotC have known this for a while now, this just confirms it even more. It definitely sucks but I hope they will continue entertaining us with other productions. I'm also keeping a close eye on Rhys Darby since his character was the main reason I watched season 2.

I hate how a brilliantly funny, interesting, original show like this is only on for 2 seasons, yet reality crap like The Hills is still on.
I guess it's slightly less sad than if they were cancelled as it was their own decision, but no 3rd season of FoTC still sucks harder than an episode of The City.
So sad to see Bret, Jemaine, Mel and Murray cross over to rerun heaven, where they will forever live. Hope Brett and Jemaine, as well as the rest, continue making us chuckle. Perhaps having become baby daddies will add to, not stifle, their creativity!

New Zealand's exports don't always "translate" well. This faux-hipster crap was a bit too self-indulgent. But for all the diehard fans, maybe HBO can run this series back to back with "John From Cincinnati."
