Mel And Leo Team Up For Viking Flick
Mel Gibson's latest directorial effort is an as-of-now untitled period drama set in the time of Vikings!
Leonardo DiCaprio is set to star in the film and is said to have been interested in Viking culture for years.
Gibson is producing alongside Graham King and shooting is expected to commence in Fall 2010. King says of the collaboration:
"This will be an awe-inspiring story, created with some of the industry’s finest cinematic talent and I am just over the moon to be making this film with Mel, Leo and Bill [screenwriter William Monahan].”
While we may not be Mel's biggest fan anymore, Leo never fails to impress us so we think this has some real potential.

It is hard to believe he has not been in front of the camera in a staring capacity since 2002's Signs. He has Edge of Darkness coming out in 2010. He was supposed to direct a movie on the life of Boudica an English tribal Queen who made war against the Roman occupiers of England. I guess this never came to pass.

Why do people get so hung up on celeb's personal life? If Mel is an alcoholic, if Mel heated on his wife - WHO CARES?? His personal life is for him to worry about.
FACT - he has starred in and directed some of the biggest movies in the 2-3 two decades. I for one will not hesitate to see this film - sounds awesome.

WTF, Leo as a Viking?. I would never have thought of that in a million years. Although they are going to need a great actor to put up with 'buckets of crazy' Gibson so maybe Leo will be what they need.

I agree with pusspuss… Perez you for one should know the value of "freedom of speech" you piss people off daily, doesn't Mel have the same right? It'll be worth watching for if not seeing.

Now about that movie, they wil start shoting in october next year, and Mel Gibson might be acting in it. thats a good one! before that, Mel Gibson will be shoting a movie in Veracruz, Mexico, call "Summer Vacation" where he wil act, and who wil be directed by Adrian gerhin.
The script for the viking one is from Mel Gibson and William Monham, and will be finaced as a coproducton between Icon prod and GK film (the same that produced edge of darkness. So Mel pursue his cooperation with Graham Campbell.
Mel wil lead in Summer Vacation and leo de caprio in viking stuff.
end of jan edge of darkness will be in the movie premiere the 29 of january, right before Mel heads to Veracruz to make his summer vacation movie wher he act as a guy doing time in a dangerous jail and surviving helped by a 9 years old boy. The mvovie is beleived to take about 8 months to be completed, and will begun in march. (february they wil prelare the palce, people are already there to cast and to instal the material.
I'm a little worried they're going to make a Hollywood-stereotype "historical" motion picture that has nothing to do with reality and history, but I think these two can pull it off.
They should make it about when the danes/norwegians came to Ireland/Scotland and have Gerard Butler and Alexander Skarsgård in it!

I'll go see anything Leo is in. The man is such an underappreciated talent and I love period pieces. Can't wait to see this. Leo is amazing. Mel Gibson? Eh.
This will be fab. For all his problems, Mel is, a great director; Apocalypto is one of the best movies ever made.
Now this is something you are going to want to watch, Perez. Those two working together is going to be very interesting. Leo may not be my favorite but putting him the grand ego master!?!
