MTV Cuts Controversial Jersey Shore Punching Scene
If you've been watching the shit-show known as the Jersey Shore on MTV, you've probably already seen the promos for an upcoming episode in which one of the female characters is punched HARD in the face by a dude in bar.
Though the show has ignited a lot of controversy over it's portrayal of Italian-Americans, it's NOTHING compared to the response execs got from airing that clip. Therefore, the show had no choice, but to remove the clip from the episode. MTV released the following statement:
"What happened to 'Snooki' was a crime and obviously extremely disturbing. After hearing from our viewers, further consulting with experts on the issue of violence, and seeing how the video footage has been taken out of context to not show the severity of this act or the resulting consequences, MTV has decided not to air Snooki being physically punched in next week's episode. The show will still make it clear what events transpired, including the full aftermath."
Violence is surely never the answer, even if it is just to get ratings.
Do U agree with their decision?
Watch one of the promos and decide. (above)

oh come on… on one real world (i forget which one) the guy gets punched in the head and had a serious dent in his head and needed extensive plastic surgery to fix it… THEY AIRED THAT ONE!!!
the fuck is jersey shore and why is everybody talking about it?
as if we don't have enough trashy reality tv shows!
MTV should CUT all this "reality" BULLSHIT and start playing music - or better yet, MTV CUT ALTOGETHER!
- honestly who really "watches" MTV?
Why is this a big deal? It's definitely not the first time that physical violence has been shown on an Mtv reality show. I don't understand why people are so concerned with this show.
I WISH THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN YOUR FACE PEREZ!!!!!! IT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE PERFECT PICTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THAT GUY IS A DOUCHE BAG!!! He hit her really hard too! She did not deserve that at all!
Re: ap076 – Well I guess I do not have the right clue!!
who cares we already saw the punch whats done is done
that bi-yiatch needs his HANDS hobbled at the wrist 'MISERY'-style!
i do SOOOO-FUGGIN-HOPE that her clan handles this -ish like Sonny Corleone repped for his sister in the Godfather.
word.
lmfaoooooooooooo she had it coming i hate her
I don't agree with violence on women what so ever, but these people 'love' the attention and agreed to portray their personality on camera, as well as the drama. So, you shouldn't give them the benefit of covering that stuff up. Snooki chose to get in that guys face anyway, so it's not like she wasn't keeping to herself. But im not justifying what that guy did, just sayin.
I am from Jersey and this is not a good depiction of us, but damnit…. that girl deserved a fist in the nose….. I'm so tired of bitches running their mouth and hoping for nothing in return… Well Done!
Never thought I'd say this — but Bravo, MTV.
I hope the pig that hit snooki drops the soap in prison…. A LOT.
Right on "Bunnyness"… I have seen many women run their mouths degrading men in their paths and nothing happens to them because, they are women. Being a female myself, I think, if you take on the responsibility of talk'n shit you should be aware of the possible consequences you reap. Somewhere, somehow women are sheltered by a publicly imposed theory… "Men should never hit women, they are stronger". Maybe, however, every action has a reaction… Snookie's bullshit got a reaction. Whether right or wrong, both are to blame! Neither, she nor him, can bitch about the repercussions of their acts… They both are to blame equally! Physically or verbally, it's assault!
Am I an evil bitch ’cause I laughed my ass off watching this?
Umm pretty sure she started it right there. But that was major. He could have just told her to eff off. That shit was funny but.
Uhm they aired when that Irene chick on the Real World got slapped in the face. Why not air this? Ghey.
The show itself is an abomination and everyone on it SHOULD be punched in the face hard. Can't wait to see it on The Soup
"Get your ugly fucking ass out of our faces?" Snookie my dear that is a verbal assault.
I don't know why anyone would speak to a stranger like this. If someone is bothering you move on. Especially in an establishment where alcohol is being served.
The guy that sucker punched her. Well he got what he deserved.
This person characterizes herself as a "guidette" and glorifies the concept as if it's something to be proud of. Now she can add getting punched the f-out for running her mouth in a bar to her "guidette" resume. Honestly, perhaps she should write him a nice thank you note for adding to her street cred.
Yea that was really wrong. Guys that hit girls are sick.
I guess we hang cameras in showers, above beds, and anywhere else production teams want, but god forbid we see a girl get hit. It was a crazy thing to happy, but show the fucking clip. Stop censoring.
He's such a jerk!Poor snooki!
booooooooooooooooooooooo
HAHAHAHAHAH!!!! That was brilliant!!
The fact that this show is promoting domestic violence is sick. fuck this show. mtv needs to take it off.
LMAO — that annoying drunk bitch got just what was coming to her. Too bad shit like this doesn't happen more often on reality TV. I'd love to see one of the Bad Girls or Real Housewives get a punch in the kisser like that.
I thought all Italians beat their wives/girlfriends/girls in the bar. They cannot control their emotions.
"Physically punched" ? Is there any other way?
it would of made great tv….they should of kept it….i think the other guys got on top of him right away….but violence is wrong i agree
MTV should leave it in….show the reality of these morons.
Stupid, stupid show. It's not wonder America's reputation is in the toilet when this is what passes for entertainment these days.
They should show it. We all wanna see it- its fucked up, crazy, awful, and that makes good TV.
not entertaining
at all
