Taylor Swift has A LOT to celebrate this past year, but this weekend she had a little get together to commemorate something big. She turned 20!
Our lil' Swifty is all grown up!
In honor of the big day, Taylor spent time with her pals and band and even gave a HUGE gift to someone other than herself!
Our fave country belle donated $250,000 to schools she's either attended or worked with over the years. The money is allotted to pay teachers' salaries as well as buy books and fund various educational programs.
Outstanding! Taylor explains:
"Something I wanted to do at the end of this amazing year and especially on my birthday was give back to something I really believe in, which is education. The schools that I went to and the amazing people I got to learn from really turned me into who I am, and I wanted to give back."

i'm not a fan of her music, but i think she is a shining beacon of hope for our generation. i'm 23 and i really appreciate that she's showing that young people aren't all take take take. more celebrities should take a leaf out of her book and give something back.

Her music is not overrated, because people can relate to it, and that matters a lot to so manyof us. Personally I think she writes the best lyrics and I like her soft voice. She doesn't have the greatest vocals, but her voice fits her songs. She is so damn cute, and I'm happy, that I'm a fan of a person, who can give back.

I love her! She is a breath of fresh air as far as celebrities go.
For all you people that are bitter and hating, would you rather have a young girl look up to Taylor or Lindsey? Taylor writes music and plays an instrument (which is not what I can say about alot of performers today). Taylor's donation to education is generous and inspiring.
I don't know about her…I still think she's fake, I mean her WHOLE career is based on her getting hurt, her songs, joe breaking up with her over the phone, kanye interrupting her speech and in a couple months she'll be hurt by taylor lautner & she'll write a song about it & everyone's gonna feel sorry for her & she'll make a ton of publicity about how he broke up with her and be really famous, I think everything is planned, just after joe, she released a bunch of hit songs, then kanye comes to make her famous & then she releases ANOTHER song which, people out of pity listen to it, & then with her whole TL scandal she releases ANOTHER song, & believe me after they break up there'll be more songs of TS
, i think it's all staged and well planned & she's an industry robot.

okay to start I want to say that i am a huge huge fan of taylor swift
and i think that it's so great that she's giving back so much.
but what is strange to me is how she said that education is something that she believes in and yet she doesn't have a college education.
i know that she's super busy and everything right now
and that going to school is probably not one of her priorities right now.
but still it's just seems kind of almost hypocritical in a sense.

Re: Perez is a hater – Last time I checked, some of the greatest songs ever written were about heart break and true life experiences. What's wrong with Taylor doing the same thing? She carries herself with pride and respect, and what more could the youths of today ask for than someone who not only gets respect but gives it as well.

i'm just saying, i liked taylor before fearless came out, like a lot of fans, when "should've said no" was one of her hits before the joe jonas incident and the kanye west incident. so for people who are unaware obviously, she did not get her fame from people feeling sorry for her because of them. is it too much to assume that for once we have an artist who can actually sing, write, perform LIVE and give back to the community and not be selfish in any way? or must all the negative people who are not satisfied with their own lives try to say how horrible she is. people are never satisfied. sad, sad.
