Hunting For Good Will Again, Matt Damon?
Add this to the list of sequels we have no desire to see!
Rest easy, there isn't a full fledged second installment of Good Will Hunting on the way, but Matt Damon did channel his Oscar winning counterpart for a documentary premiering Sunday on the History Channel called The People Speak.
Matt Damon has taken Howard Zinn's followup novel to A People's History of the United States, (a book favorited by his Good Will Hunting character) and has turned it into a star-studded history lesson. He has enlisted some of his friends to perform readings from the book, Voices of a People's History of the United States.
Maybe it's easier to learn about boring shiz from pretty people!
Among the A-Listers taking part in this project are Morgan Freeman, Bob Dylan, Pink, Bruce Springsteen, and Marisa Tomei.
How titillating this could be, if they were talking about ANYTHING else!

Actually, Howard Zinn's book is fantastic. Just because people are more obsesses with celebrities and gossip, doesn't mean there shouldn't be a happy mixture of all things in life.
If you haven't read Zinn's book, I really recommend it. It's a lot like "Lies My Teaher Told Me", but a lot more in depth. Perez might be more into it if it was about Paris Hilton's oversized feet!

Watched it, and again this morning. It's fantastic!! Brilliant! Am reading the book, as well. These people who are being represented on The People Speak were just like you are now, working hard for change and equality and that's something that as Americans we should all care about. Maybe you can learn something from people who came before you. And riots, picketing, strikes, fights, wars . . . doesn't sound like a snooze to me.
…and your sentiments within this post, Perez, are the reasons why I never have and never will take you seriously. Learning about our nation's history should be a goal for every citizen; this knowledge makes us better participants in elections and in society. I'm not too big on Damon's politics, so I'm a little leery of his take on Voices, but presenting our history– even if skewed– in a way that will get a lot of people to watch (star power) is great.

It was on last Sunday and it was actually really good. It showed history through the common person, not what the history books tells us. As liberal as you are Perez, you should read the book. Yes it is long, but it is really well done and shows the part of American history that are not taught in school.
