Nicole Kidman was none too pleased with a BBC reporter during an interview on Sunday when his questioning segwayed away from the topic of her new movie Nine and started prying in her personal belief system. Nicole was said to be a Scientologist while being married to the King of the Cult, Tom Cruise, but since then, not much has been discussed about her faith.
When the reporter dropped the bomb of a question on Nicole, her face went stern and icy and she told the Brit what for, saying:
“I’m here to publicise Nine. If I was here to do an exposé on myself then I’d be like, ‘Let’s go’, but I have no interest in discussing any of that."
When he pressed on and asked, "“You don’t want to talk about Scientology?”, she firmly replied, “No, I’ll talk about Nine."
The moment ended up being so awkward, it was CUT from the broadcast!

It seems to me that she wouldnt mind talking about it but the whole topic of scientology and the reasons behind it and stuff is probably such a vast topic it would end up overshadowing anything else in the interview and also not have enough time in 7 minutes to explain. I hate to defend scientology (it's the dumbest freaking thing I've ever heard of) but questions like this have no place in movie publicity. They never ask any Christian movie stars about their personal relationship with Jesus Christ and whether they truly believe Noah got two of every animal onto a boat.
I mean come on the woman has been divorced from this guy for almost as long as they were married and she has by far done her best work since they split. Shouldn't the press move on at this point. Clearly there must be something in the divorce agreement that she has either agreed not to talk about or can't talk about.

good for her i have read interviews with her and she answers most questions and always comes across really nice and family is most important to her! erm if she had have said anything tom wouldnt have proberly liked that and he is the father of her first 2 children so it would have created friction that need not be there! so yer good for her she was thinking of her family which is respectable she is a very talented actress and hen the camera's stop flashing and people stop shouting "who are you wearing?" than her family is there and what is important not answering a stupid question!

I understand her determination to keep her private life private and I can't imagine how difficult it must be having nosy people inquiring about her life constantly but there were much easier ways of handling that situation that would have left her looking less..bitchy. She could have said "You know, that's something that is no longer a part of my life and since I no longer practice in it I prefer not to touch on the subject" or something. She was much more polite than I would have been. A persons spiritual beliefs (past or present) are their own personal business. It would also have been bad form to publically trash the father and beliefs of her eldest two children. She handled it graciously.

I didn't find her cold or rude at all. She kept the discussion on track and avoided getting into a discussion that was most likely targeted to paint her and Scientology in a negative light. I mean, the guy started the question by comparing it to a "bullying cult"…why would anyone who is promoting a film even entertain that question?!

I've always thought she seemed like a very cold person, but this interviewer was way out of line. No matter how she answered that question she would have been scrutinized for it.
