In a recent interview with GQ, Rihanna again opens up about her ordeal with Chris Brown. She specifically talks more about the fall-out of the abuse and how she dealt with the realities of it. When asked who helped her through one of the most difficult times of her life, she replied:
"Nobody."
What??? How could that be?!
Rihanna explains:
"Really, just the music. And working. 'Cause I really didn't want to be around anybody, for them to stare at me and stuff, and feel sorry for me. So I just stayed in the house a lot. Then I started to get cabin fever. I was like, I'm going crazy in here."
Understandable, and perhaps, in the end, she is stronger for it. But it is still sad to think about her going at this battle alone.
Poor girl! At least she can take comfort that her music is now and forever shall be superior to Beat-Her-Down's!

The girl grew up amid domestic violence. Trauma in childhood scars in ways not always easily seen. The first thing to go is trust beside your innocence. Yeah, she may have a lot of people around her but she obviously doesn't TRUST anyone to really be her and breakdown and be healed. Is it really that difficult to understand?! And about her still talking about it, there is no timeline on the healing, just because the rest of you want to play God and say when that should be. Compassion and empathy are a necessary part of being human. Based on 20/20, she's in psychotherapy and trying to deal with her issues as best she can. She's young and wounded and living it one day at a time I can only hope.

I have no sympathy. It's not like she couldn't afford to get help. There are people in much worse situations where they have been abused, have children, and have no emotional support or financial way to escape their abuser.
This girl had and entire entourage, her family, and the entire country supporting her. Yes, the fact that she's famous and it's embarrassing that this hit the mainstream media is terrible, but everyone had moved on to the next big scandal. She was the one that brought it back up, and keeps bringing it up. Over and over and over again.
Halle Berry's boyfriend abused her, but she doesn't bring it up every time she needs to sell a bad movie. Christina Aguilera's father abused her and her mother, and while she used that in her music, you don't see her making that the defining moment of her life. Actually she donated a ton of money to local woman's shelters.
What I find interesting is that this girl who has suffered so much has done nothing to help other people who are suffering. She keeps talking about herself and her feelings, and her anger. Me, me, me. I would fall off my chair, if I once heard that she was trying to do something to help other people or encourage teens who have been or are being abused to get out and get help.
Saying she is a role model in one breath and then making dangerous statements like "I did it alone", encourages teens to follow her example, which could be very damaging to them.
