R.I.P.

Very sad!

Roy Edward Disney, the nephew of Walt Disney, passed away this morning after battling cancer. He was 79 years old.

When you grow up and show your kids movies like The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast, this will be the man to thank for them.

We send our condolences to his family and the entire Disney group as they have truly lost an innovator.

So, you mean, this is the man we have to thank for the complete and total destruction of children's culture, or in other words, the man behind the commercialization of childhood? Right. Thanks buddy!! His rape and pillage of all CLASSIC children's literature, namely the little mermaid (try READING the orifginal folks) is one of the greatest corporate evils of the 20th Century and I am SURE his UNCLE was rolling over in his grave. A very awful person. Thanks though!

This was a good man… someone who wanted the Disney name to represent quality rather than a cheap buck. He helped convince current CEO Iger to go back to 2D animation, like Princess and the Frog…

Roy was much more then Disney creator of animation. I meet him, briefly, in Hawaii 17 years ago at Transpac. For some of us, Roy will be remembers as a one of the greatest offshore boat racers ever to come out of California. His many boats named "Pyewacket" set the standards for speed and performance for years. He will be missed.

Sorry to be a party pooper, but this man isn't a loss. The men who made those movies were completely racist and foul. The little mermaid? Your telling me that this movie is a classic when they have boners being popped in the ending scene? Or beauty and the beast??? Are you for real Perez? I'ma huge fan of yours but clearly you haven't had the chance to watch Mickey Mouse Monopoly. Beauty and the beast teaches kids that it;s okay to let someone physically, mentally and emotionally abuse you. As long as you stay with them, they can change! And did you all know that the only mexican characters in Disney moviws are played by Chiuaua's? Or that the only black characters, minus the brand new princess now in theatres, are black crows that can't speak proper english? Today we need change. What about coloured characters, asian characters, spanish characters…. this man certainly didn't feel it necessary. In fact, maybe he was the one that had the idea to show chicldren smoking weed in Peter Pan or putting your hands over your mouth to imitate an indian. Seriously, I don't usually vent, but you have to look deeper in the situation Perez! He is not a loss to the world! Here's to the next generation of Disney employees who may give a shit about equality. Not putting nude scenes in the background of the rescuers, etc. Cheers!

Ok - first, so what if the Disney group used a few fairytales to create movies? They just told the story in a colorful, lovable, memorable way. Why should they be at fault for that? Second - it's a PARENT'S job to teach their children about good morals and values. My 3 year old daughter watches all these movies - movies from my childhood. Her dad and I have the responsibility of teaching her about life and don't expect some 20+ year old children's movies to teach her about social acceptance, right and wrong, or any of that. These movies are meant to be enjoyed, not picked apart. and again - they're 20+ years old. R.I.P Roy! You will be missed.
