American Idol Goes Viral…Sort of

The brains behind American Idol are looking to the future of their franchise and have decided to start a new project that is completely Internet based.

Simon Fuller and Co. will be bringing you a live stream docu-project called If I Can Dream, which will follow five young people trying to make it in the Hollywood scene. Three of them will be actors, while the other two will be an aspiring model and musician. The idea is for viewers of the live steam to have the chance to connect with the project directly though blogs, MySpace, Twitter and Facebook.

An edited episode will appear on Hulu each week, but for the most part, the execs want to put out an "unfiltered and unvarnished" experience through the social networking sites.

Could catch on, but more likely, it could become tedious and boring.

What do U think?

Actually, I think it sounds sorta cool, provided the people involved are actually talented and start getting somewhere with their careers. It would be cool to watch.
