Emmy Rossum Gets A TV Gig!
And a risque one at that!
Emmy Rossum will be starring in the upcoming Showtime adaptation of long-running British black comedy Shameless alongside William H. Macy.
Shameless is about a working-class family from Chicago dealing with the recession. With their mother out of the picture and father, played by Macy, constantly hitting the bottle, Emmy's character Fiona keeps her 5 younger siblings in line.
The show is an edgy one in England and we have no doubt it will possess a similar tone on Showtime, home of other dark programming like Weeds, Californication and Dexter!
We can't wait to see it!

i highly doubt emmy rosum is gonna play a good debbie (who is the one that keeps the whole family in line) i just think its gonna be an epic fail
wow Shameless is one of my favourites but it'll be interesting to see how it will work in the US without the same social setting of the original.

It will be interesting to see if the US version will have the same amount of benefit cheating, thieving, prostitution, drug taking, and sex as the UK version - somehow I think not…

Surely it'll be toned down for the US? You guys may think Dexter and Weeds are "gritty" but it's pretty tame stuff compared to what's seen and shown in Shameless. It seems Americans are very easily offened (Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction anyone?). We're made of stronger stuff in the UK. We have to be, we've got Jordan
I'm in. Love William H Macy too.. so great in Fargo. Will be a good companion to "Brotherhood" "Weeds" .. and for those in the UK: remember, Showtime is financing Secret Diary of a Call Girl (new season Jan) so..
Still, we Americans are lax.. we can't even take real reviews, which is why "Top Gear" never makes it stateside..
