JT Tops Charity Earners List
Impressive!
Justin Timberlake has reached the top spot for a list of celebrity charity earners with his work for the Shriners Hospital for Children.
The singer netted more than $9 million for the charity blowing both Madonna with Raising Malawi and Pamela Anderson with PETA out of the water at $5.5 million and $4.8 million respectively.
Oprah's contribution to her personal charity Oprah Angel Network reached almost $4 million and U2's Bono for the ONE Foundation contributed $3.6 million.
Rounding out the top ten charity earners are Angelina Jolie, Rihanna, George Clooney, Salma Hayek and Shakira.
What a refreshing list to see during the holiday season!
As much as we love to see celebs misbehaving, we also love to see them doing some good things!

This is a list of how much mone the celebs have RAISED, not a list of how much the celbs have personally GIVEN. It's great that he has raised a lot of money, but I'm more interested in how much people give.
Any my guess is that Michael Jackson over his lifetime (if in fact he is really dead….BeLIEve!) has contributed more than all of them put together.

Why is it when celebrities care, they find is excruciatingly impossible to do so with quiet dignity? Entire camel trains fit though the eye of a needle with more ease than a movie star keeps a lid on their generoisty. So blurred have the boundaries between performance and philanthropy become that their very lexicons seem interchangeable.
As for Madonna, her supposed work and 'charity events' have been nothing more than promotional events for Gucci. Let me spell it out for you, when these charity drives end, Madonna gets a shitload of money for HERSELF plus a bunch of perdy clothes; Gucci is then able to sell a $33,250 alligator-skin jewellery box to other dumbfuck celebrities. Corporate social responsibility never looked so darling.
I agree, we DO LOVE to hear about celebrities doing good things. I'm thrilled when celebs donate their time and influence and talents to help charities raise money. Someone pointed out that they didn't personally donate it. Well fine, of course we hope they do GIVE something out of their own pockets too, but don't underestimate how much influence they may have to encourage donations and growth of charities. Keep it up!
WTF does Rihanna have to do with charity?? I have yet to see that fake bitch at anything charitable. The others I can understand. But her? No f'n way!
You know….too many are bashing on Madonna but at least she has done something to help that area. You cannot tell me that helping to build a school in such an inpoverished area is about her getting money. She may get a lot of free stuff from Gucci or whomever, but let's be real. ALL celebs get special perks and merchandise. It doesn't take away from a charity and its purpose. And to criticize her for that because you may not like her as a person or performer just shows how shallow most of these critics are. What are you doing for charity? Either here or abroad? Anything? Yeah….
Re: MyOpinionOnly – What you don't understand is Madonna will NOT do anything for anybody unless she gets something in return, how is that charity? What she recieves for "Raising Malawi" far outweighs what those kids with flies around their mouths get. Madonna is in it for Madonna and nobody else.
p.s. go ask a native Malawian the last time they saw paparazzi swooning around every corner in their country. I'm sure they are just thrilled with all this new publicity.

According to Business Week Oprah has given over her life time more to charity than any performer in U.S. history: Over $306 million. But that's how much of her own money she's given, which is different from how much she's raised.
I think that is wonderful. My son gets help from the Shriners Hospital, and if it weren't for people like him donating, my son would not be able to walk. I had no idea he was into charity. I am impressed
