Morrissey Apologizes To Fans For Album

We all tend to reflect at the end of the year on the state of our lives and it appears Morrissey is no exception.

The singer, who is currently without a record label, has addressed his fans on his website with the following message, including an apology for his latest album Swords:

"I am sorry that Swords was such a meek disaster. It was proposed and accepted as a budget-priced CD, yet emerged everywhere as the most expensive CD in the racks. It was poorly distributed and didn't stand a chance, and ranks as the lowest chart position I've ever encountered.

"What does the future hold? What does the next minute hold? It all rests as ever on determination — that which springs from somewhere deeper than the body. Record label interest is zero, but the sun will creep back into the room one way or another. It always does."

So profound!

We're sure a music legend like Morrissey will figure it out!

Maybe that explains a couple of his tour tirades. I wonder if his candid remarks would have occurred if the "album" had been a success even at the higher price and he still had a record label.
It matter little as in the end talent hopefully will win out.

Oh Moz, old chap, I feel bad. Why don't you let me treat you to a steak dinner or a Beef Wellington. Maybe a Cordon Bleu, or a schnitzel. These are all wonderfully delicious and will buck up your spirits. There'll be Yorkshire pudding… you know you want it.

You don't apologize for a low chart position.
What you do apologize for is a weak artistic effort.
      (Which "Swords" was.)

Im sorry dude- Morrissey is no legend.

swords wasn't a studio album. it was b sides recorded for his last 3 albums. i dont feel like he was apologizing for the content of swords. but for the lackluster sales and the insane tour (that i followed him on). anyways, there's a reason b sides like, you know, DONT make it on albums. that being said, swords has some really strong songs (never played symphonies, dont make fun of daddys voice, children in pieces). no artist is perfect. and morrissey does not owe ANYONE an explanation. also, moz wrote that for us mozfans (i read it a few days ago) NOT for those on perezhilton. it should not have been reprinted here. i love perez, but not as much as i love moz, and for perez to open a forum on moz in a nonmoz arena is ridiculous and i am mad at you perez. VIVA MOZ!!

      Why is Morrissey????
Dig a hole, lie down in it and stay there, dammit. And take Rhianna with you!!!

    7. 7

he should be apologizing for his career. shittiest music and most overrated person in music.

Well, music is subjective. I've heard spectacular stuff that's never seen a top 100. Music's value is intrinsic, whether or not you are successful at cashing in on it. It's just really nice to successfully market it, too, to aid in generating a new tour and spin off stuff. The old bands toured to expose people to their new stuff. He should give it time to catch on. There's just so much out there, and the industry is in flux.

True to You is _not_ Morrissey's Web site. It's a fanzine.

      Re: cdv – What wusabee1 said. Morrissey=legend.

    12. 12

I would rather he apologised for walking out on his concert in Liverpool, then making us all wait when he was in his car two minutes after he left the stage. I'm completely disillusioned with him now anyway.

    13. 13

      hes not a legend
      hes THE legend

    14. 14

he is always awesome..where can i buy this…

    15. 15

Moz is the type of artist that people always have an opinion on, much like Michael Jackson, you either love him or hate him. Personally I love him & he IS a legend, maybe not in the US but definitely in the UK & Ireland. Anybody who grew up in a working class environment & actually LISTENS to his music can relate. His lyrics are so astute & witty & he doesn't need to apologize to anyone for anything. Can't wait to hear more music from him.

      Re: wusabee1 – actually…no he isnt.

    18. 18

Re: wangbag – your absalutely right. maybe his disasterouse album and tour is natures way of saying that he isnt wanted anymore.

    19. 19

Re: Cashmere Jay – Fuck you. I like Morrissey, even if that album wasn't all as expected to be.

Re: the Period – maybe you're right! maybe he was wanted and now he's not.
but you were never wanted, twat

Make the most of your regrets; never smother your sorrow, but tend and cherish it till it comes to have a separate and integral interest. To regret deeply is to live afresh.
      Henry David Thoreau
      *
Morrisey, no-one makes this truer than you…
(just don't listen to your own music when you are down…sad sad sad with a pretty little beat)

    22. 22

Re: the Period – well, actually, in all actuality…he is. maybe you're not old enough to understand that he is. but he is. sorry to break it to you.

    23. 23

Even Morrissey has had some weak moments in the last year or even the last few years, he is still a LEGEND and will always be so. Nothing will change what he did to music, and how he changed it. Too bad most young people nowadays listen to pure shit and don't appreciate the value of Moz' music..

    24. 24

does anyone else worry about his health? i almost went to his portland concert but i felt bad- dude's been collapsing & he's no spring chicken. i couldn't be part of that "let's force the old fart to perform for us" crowd. I would like to see him but holy cheet he needs to take it easy

    25. 25

Re: westie.girl – well us Mexicans in the US sure love him too. I think it is the relatability thing.

    26. 26

      I purchased 10 Swords CD's.
I doubt Mr. improper Pimp and lets go devils bought 1 betweeen the 2 of them.
Theo might have bought 1 but I doubt it.

    27. 27

it was a compilation wasnt it? not a new sudio album (he had one out eariler this year) so no big deal if it wasnt a huge success
