Seinfeld Replacing Conan?
With Conan O'Brien's ratings tanking fast, NBC may be looking for a replacement for the new Tonight Show host.
Really? Already?
It's being reported that the peacock network is going after Jerry Seinfeld to replace the not so funny late night host.
A source reveals:
"NBC just can't carry on like this. 'The Tonight Show' has lost 52 percent of its viewership in just one year. The November ratings will be the show's lowest in 15 years. They would be idiots to not be having the replacement conversation."
We'd hardly call that fair, especially since Conan's only been on for a few months!
And it looks like NBC agrees!
The network says the whole Seinfeld thing is "completely false. There are no conversations happening. Conan is the host of the Tonight Show."
At least for now he is.

If this is just a rumor and not the truth, then it's too bad, Seinfeld would bring in the ratings for sure. I never watch the Tonight Show but if Seinfeld hosted it, I would. Then again, Seinfeld probably doesn't need this job, with all the money he's made from his sitcom, he's set for life.
I would go into a RAGE if they replaced Conan. Especially if it was with freaking seinfeld. Soooo annoying.
I think this story is nothing but bull shit but perhaps was network started to light a serious fire under Conan and his staff's collective asses.
I maintain the trouble starts at 10pm with Leno, then the slipping ratings for NBC affiliates' nightly new broadcasts, and then a domino effect that goes on with Conan.
I've actually really been enjoying Conan. People should give it a chance. Its not as sophomoric as when he did Late Night.

It used to be easy: I'd watch Letterman @ 11:30 and Conan @ 12:30. Conan is hilarious, and I love him, but since he took over the 11:30 time slot, and I have to choose between him and Letterman, I must say Letterman usually wins - I miss Conan… but damn, I've been watching Letterman at 11:30 for years…

Seinfeld's scripted show was funny in the 1990's. His stand up routines never were and are not now funny. It would be a huge mistake to lose Conan for Seinfeld.

conan is hilarious. if he's not getting the ratings it's because the majority of americans are idiots, not because he's not funny. conan and jay have COMPLETELY opposite senses of humor and different audiences. of course the people who were used to tuning in to leno for X years aren't going to like conan's jokes. they laughed for years at a guy who previously did doritos commercials as an occupation, for kelly clarkson's sake.

Conan's show is not good. He is NOT funny and was a poor choice. Although he books really good guest I often still dont watch becasue he is just too painful to observe.
I've read about 300 comments on this report on various other websites because I'm a huge Conan fan. There's a lot of opinions on this and most of them make absolutely no sense! A lot are like me saying that Conan should stay and things will smooth out. Some are saying Jay should take back the Tonight Show. It would make no sense to change things to how they once were before! People cannot grasp the concept that life will go on and there's nothing you can do about it! GRRR I have way too much to say on this subject.
I just don't get the comments about Leno not being a good "lead-in" to the local news and therefore not a good "lead-in" to Conan. What is the deal with the concept of "lead-ins"? Don't people have remote controls these days. I know I certainly don't turn the TV onto one channel and then leave it there all night. Maybe that was true back in the day where you had to get up every time you wanted to change the channel, but not now? I just don't get it.

It would be a very expensive gamble. Seinfeld does not work for cheap, and there is no guarantee that he would do any better than Conan in attracting viewers. NBC would have to pay to get Conan out of his contract as well…
Its not Conan's fault that Letterman got about a billion dollars of free press this year…Conan and Andy are great. The only change I would make is to put Andy on the couch as the side kick, so he would be in a better position to banter with Conan and the guests.
NBC destroyed the 10:00 slot with the lameass Leno show. Now they want to punish Conan for THEIR fuck-up? Unbelievable

Problem isn't Conan… it's the LAME decision by NBC to put Leno @ 10:00 PM. He has sucked all the air out of Conan's lead-in. People are turned off and not tuning in to NBC… not Conan.
I LOVE Conan! He is my hero. The only thing about him that I don't like are the fat jokes about Star and Kristie Alley. But he's awesome!!!

I was a big fan of Conan's show before but since taking on the Tonight Show he just seems off, kinda stiff. I can't stand Andy Richter, he adds nothing to the show. They need a fresh approach and better writers.

Rove Mc Manus is taking his spot. Thats why he SUDDENLY quit his 10 year old show without notice. They were looking at him to take over from Conan once before. He has always been more than willing and he hasn't given an explanation. Maybe he wasn't allowed to say what was happening!

Conan is very, very funny, what is messed up is that there really doesn't need to be two hours of the Tonight Show and that's exactly what's on TV, and Jay is going to win over Conan's time slot regardless of who is in it because he is on earlier and his show is funny.

Why are you spreading false rumors such as this? Contrary to what *you* think, Conan is very funny. He is also one of the most gay friendly late night talk show hosts around, so I'm surprised you don't already worship him.
Conan is amazing and so funny. Great physical comedy! I think either most people love or hate him though, seems like the 'younger generation' seem to enjoy him more. If Conan does lose the show, i know he will go on to do other things, but I hope it doesn't come to that.

I don't believe this. They said the same thing about Conan when he started his old show. I honestly think Seinfeld would be a disaster. He's an egomaniac, and the reason so many people like Conan is because he makes fun of himself. Seinfeld is super-sensitive and seems like an arrogant jerk. Seinfeld was a good show, but that was because of Larry David, not Jerry Seinfeld. Just look what's happened since: Larry David has created another hit show and Seinfeld is doing lame microsoft commercials.
Plus NBC would have to pay Conan a fortune to buy him out. And then he'd go to another network and compete with them every night. The Tonight Show with Jerry Seinfeld? No thanks.

Jerry Seinfeld, as a comedian, just isn't that funny. "Seinfeld" the show was absolute genius, but that was thanks to brilliant writers and a talented ensemble cast. Seinfeld the man is unengaging and not really that witty. He could never carry a talkshow night in and night out.

I fucking like Conan. NBC made a mistake putting Leno on, during primetime, for an entire hour, 5 days a week; as much as I like and respect Jay Leno, this was a terrible decision on the network's part. I don't think Conan should pay for this terrible decision on NBC's part.
