Elisabeth Hasselbeck made an insanely insensitive mistake on Thursday's episode of The View while interviewing actor Stanley Tucci, but the talk show host has since manned up and apologized!
In case you missed it - Hasselbeck asked Tucci if his wife, who passed away of cancer in May, had seen his new movie, The Lovely Bones.
Cringeworthy, right??
"It was an honest mistake with Stanley Tucci today & I called him to apologize," Hasselbeck posted on Twitter following the taping.
"He forgave me (such grace)-if only I could forgive myself."

I think it's a little unfair to ridicule her for this. I do agree she should have done some quick background research on him, but it's a pretty natural question to ask someone. Second, this was an honest mistake by Mrs. Hasselbeck, where was all this outrage when Whoopi said that when Roman Polanski drugged and raped a 14y/o it wasn't "rape-rape". I guess shes a woman/child activist unless its one of her hollywood buddies doing the raping, or "rape-raping".
The entire show, The View, is nothing more than a collection of women commenting on issues that they have absolutely no frigging idea what they're talking about. Mrs. Hasselback is the most well informed out of all of them, and thats what makes the show so scarey.

To be fair, he did say "My Wife told me I couldn't do it [the role] after reading the book." And then Elisabeth said "Has she seen it or seen any parts of it?" To give her the benefit of the doubt….considering she past away in May, it could be possible that he was filming it prior to her death. Still though….she should have done her research; BUT, I do think his lead-in mislead her.
