Our trip to Beijing has come to an end and we are on our way to Shanghai now, but we made the most of our stay in the home of the last Olympics.
On Sunday, we took a tour of the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. We walked around a lot and took the subway over to the Olympic Park area, where the former Olympic Stadium is now converted into a Winter Wonderland.
If you could get a medal for innertubing, we would have totally taken home the gold!
We sampled some lots of the yummy local cuisine and we even caught a spectacular acrobatics show. It was nice to see there's a place for Chinese gymnasts after they're no longer teenagers!
We're loving our time in China!
We're sooo thankful that we're able to take a trip like this and share it with our family!

The Antique market on Dongtai lu but even better the one in the big building near the start of Fangbang lu (Yu Gardens area). Can't miss it as you see huge stone statues in front of it. Great places to stock on junk for Xmas gifts (scrolls, fake Mao posters…). And don't forget to bargain !
Walk around the French concession. Visit the Urban Planning Museum (great model of the huge city). The Shanghai Museum gift shop has a really nice selection of books and gifts. Don't climb on the Oriental tower but choose instead Jinmao Tower (Grand Hyatt) or Financial tower (Park Hyatt). Skip the river cruise.
Shopping for trendy young adults is done on Xinle le or Changle lu.
Shanghai Studio is THE gay bar.
Eat at Old Station in Xujiahui area (old train station converted into a restaurant with lots of Old Shanghai pics) or Chinoise story in Old Jinjiang hotel and Lost Heaven on the Bund. Ánd Xiao Nan Guo or Ding Tai Fung for dumplings. More local and still fun is Dongbeiren. For western food go to M on the Bund and don't forget to go on the terrace to get the best view ever of the Bund (best at night).

Shanghai is my favorite city ever! ride the subway in Shanghai just because it is fun! shanxi nan lu is a fun street just to guang jie (shop and walk), and go to xintiendi! It's a place with restaurants and shops and it's really nicely done- the buildings look like old-time shanghai.
