New Host, New Time: Idol Takes A Shift
We're not so sure this is a good idea! Your demographics, (little kiddies and old bitties) tend to fall asleep by 10 P.M.

There are more changes on the way for American Idol this season.
Along with Ellen DeGeneres pulling up a previously gin-soaked chair to the judges desk, now we've gotten word that the show has a new time-slot. Normally broadcasted at the 8 o'clock hour, the show has gotten a bump up to 9.
The reason? To make way for some more crappy TV no one will be watching. Fox has placed a new show called Human Target into Idol's old spot. This new show is "based on a graphic novel about a bodyguard."
We give it no longer than the lifespan of The Beautiful Life, but if it does manage to capture some eyeballs, how will Idol fare later in the evening?

Why tamper with an already good thing?
Maybe making it later allows them to make it a bit less kid-friendly? That's always been my primary issue with the show: it's just so squeaky-clean it kills me.
Ellen is not a host, she is a judge. Ryan Seacrest is the host.
I think it sucks. I like to watch with my daughter, and won't let her stay up past nine on school nights.
He neglected to mention that the timeslot change is for Wednesdays results show and not the Tuesday performances.
I don't think it will last long. Glee is coming back in April on a Tuesday and they said the time will be 9. I mean they could put it at ten or 8, but why would they ruin a show that is giving Fox so much ratings? Glee is ten times better then idol. Also Idol is crashing anyway with Paula being gone.

I am soooooooooooo done with AI! I like Ellen and all but there was NO need to replace Paula for her. Most of the winners go on to do nothing so what's the point? The terrible auditions shows are boring now too. *yawns*

They should not change the time slot. I am sure it will still do wonderful. But Time slot changes are never a good ideal.

It's better to have the later time slot. And as much as I love Ellen I don't think she's be good for American Idol. She could do better things and I can't see her being brutally honest about people's singing. I guess that's why she's replacing Paula? Maybe she's gonna be "the nice one?"

If a show has 22 episodes in a season but the tv season as a whole lasts about 36 weeks, a few months off of new episodes for any show is inevitable. If it wasn't off because of Idol being two hours for awhile then it would have either been off for another show, only had repeats, or had a few new episodes, then a few weeks, off and so on for awhile.
9:00 is not that late, I don't see a problem here.

This show has totally lost it's appeal for me once they got rid of Paula. I like Ellen, but she is no music judge and should stick to what she knows best and that's comedy and talk show. As far as I am concerned, the two best idols have already been discovered and the rest are all but forgotten. Kelly and Carrie will go on an become even bigger stars than they are now. Carrie will be a legend in country music. I don't care to watch AI no more
Sadly, Idol isn't their first "oh shit." Leave it to Fox to fuck up a good show for a shitty one. Whoever is in charge of programming there needs to get his/her ass FIRED.
Wouldn't it make more sense to have a strong lead in with Idol for the new show?
I feel AI slipping away. I love the show for the fresh talent that it brings in every season and I really pay no attention to who wins or who loses, the judges, the hosts…. none of that is interesting to me, it's all about the performances. I hope that others aren't so caught up in all of the changes that they forget about the purpose of the show… The Talent!
