Polanski Gets DENIED!

Roman Polanski's bid to have his case dismissed has been rejected by a California appeals court with the justices saying that they are still "deeply concerned" about the allegations against the director for raping a 13-year-old girl in 1977.
The court's opinion reads:
"We encourage all participating parties to do their utmost to ensure that this matter now draws to a close in a manner that fully addresses the issues of due process and fundamental fairness raised by the events of long ago.
"The passage of more time before this case's final resolution will further hamper the search for truth and the delivery of any appropriate relief, and it will also prolong the agony that the lack of finality in this matter continues to cause Samantha Geimer [the victim]."
You can't buy your way out of this one, Roman!

Samantha Geimer is ready to forget the whole ordeal. Why can't the Supreme Court of California do the same. The last thing this state needs is another costly court battle. But who cares? It's more important to persecute some old guy for something that even the victim is against punishing him for. This was over a long time ago.
No matter what Samantha Greimer's settlement with Polanski or her opinion of the state of the case today, prosecutors do not just prosecute cases on behalf of the victim but also on behalf of society as a whole because it is society's laws that were broken. He needs to return to California and face the music.

When it came out back then everyone was pissed at the victim. Is that fair, they treated her like she asked for it would your average 13 year old even know what to ask for? that's prob why she wants to move on and just forget about it they made her feel it was her fault but regardless it doesnt make his crimes any less perverted or wrong
I have to agree with #1. I probably shouldn't but for some reason, I feel the same way. Something of that nature happened to me when I was 4 or 5 and it ended up in local newspapers and I remember being terribly embarrassed. I hardly even remember the details now (not as extreme as the Polanski scenario, however) and don't feel it has affected my life in any way. I would CRINGE if it was a big deal all these many years later. I can see where #2 is coming from also though.

The fact that the bugger has stayed away after fleeing his sentencing and has had the resources to do it in Swiss chalets and Paris luxury apartments should not mean he gets off. He drugged and raped an underage girl whose family trusted him and he should be dragged into whatever jail, holding dock, court etc. is necessary to bring him to some sort of justice. Bugger the international film community; haul the S.O.B in and sentence him! Then put his rapist @ss in jail.

Where were the parents of the "victim" when this supposed crime took place ? As a parent I would NEVER leave a young daughter with ANY man, you have to protect your children. I seriously think this was all made up by the young girl and her mother to make a bundle of money. But in their good heart they did not wand Mr. Polanski to go to prison. That is why the "victim" wants not more procedures, she feels the guilt now. Karma will never leave you alone. Let Mr. Polanski live his life with his wife and children, I believe he has proven now that he can be a good and decent citizen.
