Brittany's Sudden Death Echoes Heath Ledger Tragedy
This morning, the notes from the coroner's report were leaked onto the Internet, detailing the massive amounts of drugs found in the home of Brittany Murphy. Though the cause of death has still not been revealed, as they are waiting for the toxicology report to be completed, an expert from the University Of Florida College of Medicine thinks that her death could have been an accidental overdose.
The same kind of overdose that took the young life of Heath Ledger.
Dr. Bruce Goldberger, a professor and the Director of Toxicology studies at the university "absolutely" feels that the mixture of drugs found in her possession could have easily resulted in her death. Furthermore, he relates her death as being more similar to the circumstance leading up to the death of Heath Ledger, rather than some who have compared the tragedy to Michael Jackson's demise. Dr. Goldberger said:
“It is more likely to be like the Heath Ledger scenario where we had death from an accidental overdose…Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine."
Hydrocodone was one of the drugs found at Brittany's home.
So very sad to lose such young and bright people this way.

That's really sad. I wish more people would realize how dangerous prescription drugs can be when abused recreationally, and how mixing prescription drugs is ALWAYS a recipe for disaster.
I take many prescription medications for chronic pain, depression and anxiety. These are PRESCRIBED drugs necessary for LEGITIMATE medical conditions. It seems to me that you'd rather this be an overdose than a tragic death at a young age (which happens among mere mortals daily) just so that you can write more of these articles. This isn't reporting the news, it's just you throwing mud at a woman who died too young no matter the cause. Why don't you quit jumping the gun and wait for FACTS before you write your articles? I feel terrible that Brittany lost her life at such a young age - I'm sure that her loved ones are hurting terribly right now. If it is true that she died due to abuse of prescription drugs I can't help but think that SHE wasted her own precious life. Not trying to be cruel but there has been ALOT of this going around and it always seems to be someone elses fault - their DRs, their managers, the family etc. I lost a friend a few years back who was young and bright and a serious abuser of prescription drugs. She knew all the tricks…Dr Office Hopping…getting prescriptions in other peoples names….buying them off the street..etc. Brittany had a loving mother, husband and by all accounts many friends…..she had a career…she had income….many many gifts. Lets hope that this was a natural case death and not some ridiculous overdose………..Brittany please tell me you didn't destroy your life.

Second what a brilliant Toxicologist to come out and get his name in the press, for stating the obvious. Taking large amounts of any drugs in combination, over the counter or prescription, will kill you.
Third, although a comparison to Heath's death, may be likely, it is not certain, so why put it out there just yet.
Just FYI- I take both Topamax AND the heart medication Propanalol for migraines. Side effects are weight loss & depression respectively. Been there w/ the anti depressants & vicodin too.

ugh. i have never been more frustrated reading this blogsite until now. you have no right passing prejudice against someone, ESPECIALLY someone who is no longer here to defend themself. just because these drugs were found in her home does not mean she was taking them all. coming from someone who has battled with bulemia for almost 10 years, several of these drugs are on the list of prescriptions i have tried. sometimes a doctor prescribes a drug, you try it for a few weeks, it doesn't seem to help, you stop taking it and they prescribe a different one of the same vein for you to try out. why must you automatically assume that people are reckless and irresponsible. just because a person POSSESSES a drug, doesn't mean they're ABUSING it. i'm not saying this is the case with Brittany Murphy but who are we to assume? it's disgusting that her list of prescription drugs can just be posted for the world to see. issues, diseases, disorders, etc., that people struggle with are no one's buisness but their own. i have family members who don't know half of the shit i go through, and if for some reason my personal affairs got announced to the world, i'd be mortified. i just hate what this world has done to eachother. leave people alone.

I think you may have found an excellent reason why Piggy and/or Barboar are pushing the OD angle. Aside from that, as sick as she was, chances are, she couldn't have kept many drugs inside her body (no ant-nausea found) to metabolize into her blood stream. Autopsy would also find undigested pills, which were not found.

Uhhh…Most "overdoses" are "accidental." The young lady was "nodding out" on movie sets, for crying out loud.
Tell me…if someone is complaining of physical illness (or even if you thought them to be ill) would you not call 911 if they were "drifting in and out of consciousness" while at work? Personally, if I thought one of my co-workers was this "ill" I would at least be looking for the company nurse or doctor myself!
The fact that people have come out as witnesses that this was occurring, and that it was dealt with by her being "fired" rather than hospitalized, tells the tale.
Hydrocodone is so addictive, as if not more than heroin. My mom is addicted to it and has tried to quit a handful of times. Doctors prescribe it like candy. WTF?
Some people will cling to their denial of the evidence pointing to the obvious conclusion to this story.
Anna Nicole was a druggie. They claimed "prescription drugs" and blamed the doctors; not the addict. Heath Ledger was a druggie. He was known to go on crack binges in some of the nastiest dives around. A total mess. They tried to hide his addictive and self-destroying behavior under the cover of Rx drugs. Michael Jackson, druggie. It was the fault of the Rx drugs; no fault of the addict. Now this girl, druggie. They'll blame it on Rx drugs and an unfortunate chemical reaction. While ignoring the elephant in the room. Personally self-destructive behavior, irresponsibility, and poor choices on the part of the deceased. The lesson will, once again, be lost on mass denial.

Just a word though about drawing conclusions based on the prescription drugs they supposedly found at her house. Brittany seems to have had a lot of personal struggles, but as someone who suffers from bipolar disorder, I can tell you that bipolar patients take an *average* of 5 medications to control their symptoms. Five of the medications on this list are indicated in the treatment of bipolar, I myself am prescribed 3 of these. Some of them do double-duty on diabetes which her mother said she had. Yes, painkillers are a bitch and mixing them with anything is dangerous as hell.
I realize it would be naive to downplay the likelihood that she had a drug problem. However, it's disrespectful to her, her devastated family, and others who suffer from these debilitating and biologically-based psychiatric disorders to rush to judgment without knowing the whole story.
Okay, your being SO fake right now, but anyways, I never thought Brittany Murphys death was similar to MJs. She was taking safe drugs (when taken correctly) where as Michael Jackson was taking one drug (though he had been given others the night he died, he wasn't addicted to those) that was deadly when not given in a hospitial and it killed him. I think Brittany was taking them because she was addicted, she way have been sick but she was probally addicted, where Michael was most likely an addict but he was taking it because he had a LONG TERM issue with a sleeping disorder and he needed somthing that would quickly send him to sleep and that he could be easily woken up and he had become reliant on a drug that was not in his best interests. I don't know if Brittany Murphy died of an OD but it seems likely. All addicts need to look at how River Phoenix, Heath Ledger, Michael Jackson, and Brittany Murphy died and realize how dangerous what they are doing is.

Though MJ wasn't taking the safest drug, he should have been able to trust his doctor to not leave him when he was under the drug, especially considering Michael was about to head to London for a 50 show tour with "Dr."Murray as his personal doctor. Re: Really_Perez? – Sometimes these celebrities don't have people around them that care and sometimes their family and friends do hold interventions or try to help them but they're too addicted. Michael Jackson is said to have tried to hide his addiciton so much that he wouldn't let his brothers or sisters past the security at the gates of NeverLand and when they held interventions he wouldn't listen. But Michael also had alot of "yes" people around like any celebrity, but people that would usually say "no" to people said "yes" to him because he was who he was and who would want to upset The King Of Pop?!?! So sadly, Michael had both people who didn't actually care about him sorrounding him but he also was trying to hide the addiciton so he didn't let the people who loved him most in but before any of the addiction news spread, right after he died, Liza Minnelli said that people would be shocked when things about Michael started to get out and the certain things he was taking, to quote her "all hell's going to break loose"

Why are these drugs legal? Why are they allowed to be prescribed when its so easy for people to overdose? There have been to many cases of overdose caused by these same drugs. Its not just Heath and Michael, what about Ana Nicole? The government needs to step in.
