How does this happen?
John Lennon's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is missing.
Did someone get a brilliant idea for a last minute Christmas present while stumbling home from a bar?
Currently, there's just an "empty outline of a star" on Vine Street, which has since been covered up with a plastic bag and tape.
Classy, Los Angeles, very classy.
There is some speculation that the star may not have been stolen and was simply removed for Ringo Starr's dedication that will take place in February.
We hope that's the case.
Besides how can anyone get away with stealing a brass star out of the asphalt? In Hollywood!?

I think it was removed for Ringo, because I think it would have taken too long for a theif to take it and someone would have seen and told.
Hopefully it wasn't stolen but shit like this happens all the time.Last year some world class asshole stole the grave marker to one of my heros ,Ian Curtis of joy Division.These idiots need to be thinned out of the herd!

This caper has Lucy Ricardo & Ethel Mertz all over it. I bet they were sad that they had to give back John Wayne's footprints to Grauman's Chinese… so they moved on to something bigger.

Per the Hollywood Reporter the star has been moved closer to Harrison's star. The others will follow. Seems a logical location to me.

Why would john Lennon's star need to be removed for Ringo Starr's dedication? I understand that there has been tension between the bandmates, but I don't think it's necessary.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and Capitol Records had it moved near George Harrison's star, which is near Capitol. Ringo's will be added next to theirs on Feb 8th.
I hope it's gone for the rededication and not stolen. That would be sad.
They are redoing the sidewalks or something and a lot of the star have been "put in storage." That is what happened on that Meet that Llamas show or whatever anyways. Maybe that is what happened?
