Sh-Sh-Sh-Shanghai!
Shanghai is unreal!
Though we've never been there, we imagine this is a lot like Dubai. It's all sooooo…. NEW!
The architecture in Shanghai is other-worldly. Ginormous skyscrapers. More skyscrapers! Just tall, tall buildings. And they are all so new. This is the opposite of Beijing, which is steeped in a rich history.
We went all the way to the tippy tip top of Beijing's Pearl Tower, one of the largest buildings in Asia. Being up that high made us a bit nauseous, but it was well worth the experience. That view is pretty insane! And being able to walk over glass at such a high altitude made our heart race just a weeeeeeee bit faster.
In Shanghai, they will sell you just about anything and everything in on the street and at the local markets. We had a super fun time strolling through the shopping areas and negotiating with the vendors for the best price. We've found some really special items.
We head to Hong Kong tomorrow, which we're really really looking forward to.
Just a few days until Christmas! Hope you've got all your shopping done!

Re: Viva LaChapelle – Shanghai's architecture is unbelievable when you're standing in the middle of Puxi or Lujiazui, even Pudong (where I live and work) is building every day. Don't give misinformed opinions on places when it's obvious you've never been here. Shanghai has kept a lot of its history and there are some gorgeous older places, but the city is trying to move forward to being an economic superpower, it doesn't mean they want to be American, they have their own distinct wonderful culture.
make sure you tell everyone you are from hollywood-we are getting a bad enough rep out there, don't want them to think this is America-

I was in Shanghai for 4 months studying! So UNREAL and amazing! Hong Kong also is spectacular! You're going to be in heaven at Lan Kwai Fang, there are resturants from more than 50 countries and the cutest boutiques!
And you would really miss out if your your didn't go to Tai O island, it is the coolest! Make sure to eat some fresh seafood on Lamma!

Re: italiano89 – I completely agree- Shanghai is not trying to be American at all and narrow minded assholes that think that should realize that there's not many countries that would want to be.
And Shanghai is nothing like Dubai- I've lived in both and can say that if you were only to visit each for a few hours, they may seem similar because of the buildings (in Pudong) but that's where the similarities end.
