Starz Renews Never-Been-Aired Show!

Now that's some serious confidence!
The Starz network has renewed Spartacus: Blood and Sand for a second season and the show hasn't even premiered yet! Starz Entertainment EVP of Programming Stephan Shelanski explains:
“We couldn’t be happier with the first season. Spartacus delivers on all levels – action, characters, intrigue, romance and excitement.
Spartacus is the most ambitious original project we’ve ever undertaken, and speaks to the commitment to our subscribers to provide truly original programming along with our unmatched lineup of theatrical features."
The show will premiere on January 22.
Looks like a lot of sex and violence based on the trailer.

I never missed an episode of ROME and was furious when HBO took it off the air. Maybe this will help the healing.

taking the "Rome" concept and adding "300" in it.. i can see how it can be a hit. more men-friendly too.. lol
Yup It's the Rome/300/Gladiator Concept with a lot Action and Sex.It will be a Hit but not something with a lot substance like Rome
In contrast with Rome this show is a CGI epic like 300 so the cost will be Lower, Rome was very expensive(Wardrobe,Set were amazing)

Re: MissNice – OH REALLY? I hope so! The characters were rich and so well acted. I absolutely LOVED Titus Pullo! Lucius Vorenus was amazing and Atia, ah, she was superb! I had resisted at first, being a BBC lover but when I got hooked it was deep. Nothing has been as good since.
Now, I'm not a huge lover of 300 and I did see all that blood splashing about. If it lacks any substance, I will be turning it off.
I loved Rome on HBO and would have loved them to have gone through the reigns of Augustus to Nero and those in between, alas.
But this seems like a project that was shopped around town after 300 and finally landed on Starz a little too late. What better way to create hype than to "say" the show has been renewed. It seems fishy to me. I will not be adding another cable channel to my package for this.

Looks very homo-erotic (excellent), but you know that they will stop short of male on male sex (even though it was prevalent back then) - and they will show female on female. Why the double standard?

Yes they will, it's one of the few shows that i think they can and should do a movie, cause it wasn't fully explored.
Like u i did resisted too but once i understood it wasn't a cliché roman epic i couldn't get enough, the brits really know how to make a period movie

I also loved ROME and still hate HBO for canceling such a good show. Hate them people who cancel worth watching shows. I would love to watch this Spartacus: Blood and Sand.
