Diane Sawyer Gives ABC A Boost

She's still got it!

Diane Sawyer's first evening as the new World News host went pretty well.

Monday's newscast brought in an average of 8.934 million, which is the highest rating the show has gotten to date this season. Though NBC still took the lead in that half hour with 9.305 million viewers, it is still an impressive number on her first shot out.

Keep that momentum going!

It is not that impressive. People were a bit curious and after a few days the numbers will go back to what ever they normally are. Katie got big numbers her first week and then she became a joke. Leno had big numbers the first week and he will be out of work after this season.

Network news has been on the downswing for years. Diane Sawyer in particular has never thrown anything but softball questions in every interview she has ever done — even when she interviewed Michael Jackson and he was in the middle of the molestation charges, she never even asked him about it! I guess that's how you stay on network news.
