Prince William Roughs It For Charity

Prince William slept on the streets of London last week to raise awareness for homeless charity Centrepoint, getting comfortable for the night with only a piece of cardboard and a sleeping bag!
He was accompanied by his armed personal protection officer, his private secretary and the chief executive of Centrepoint. The Prince says of his experience:
"I cannot, after one night, even being to imagine what it must be like to sleep rough on London's streets night after night. I hope that by deepening my understanding of the issue, I can help do my bit to help the most vulnerable on our streets."

While Diana's influence lives on, credit really does go to him. The protection he had was NOT an option for him and certainly kept him from experiencing what many on the streets do, by way of violence, he is smart enough to know that and the effort on his part is appreciated. His father could take a few notes

All those politicians against free health care should be paid minimum wage and see if they still oppose it. They refuse to even properly raise the minimum wage, but when it comes to them given themselves raises, that quickly passes. Scumbag$.

besides that, props to the young prince. I truly and deeply wish that more and more heads of states and people who run the country on different positions in general follow suit, showing compassion and trying to understand a fellow human being. It is right now I believe the most effective way to make the people more compassionate, preventing wars, haterade, a big part of violence and so on. And not put oil on the fire like most do to gain points in politics. Such rotten people should be in prison the same moment.

It is a fact of life for all the royals that public opinion is a must. Not to be cynical here but the boys have always done well by charities. The Queen even took a public train the other day.

Why bother with such a story here in the good old USA. when a study by the National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty, estimates between 2.3 and 3.5 million people experience homelessness each year and statistically 700,000 morbidly obese americans have had their stomach stapled via surgery. the world doesn't hate Perez' web site. It is lauded for it's portrayal and insight of american society and culture.
And I'm sure he had his personal security/secretary on hand with a Wedgewood cup and tea at hand. The sleeping bag was probably warmed to perfection before he got in with a fluffy pillow. What did they do - sit and stare at him all night? I'm from the UK, and sure his effort was well intentioned, but trust me - it was not a true homeless experience. Send him out for a week, then let me know. He should take his plant-talking-to-dad with him!
