Way to go SuBo!

Yet another week has passed and I Dreamed a Dream is still on top!

Boyle's record is still at #1 (for the fourth week in a row!) with 661,000 more copies of the album sold, bringing the grand total to close to 2.5 million in sales!

Wonder how many kids and parents in America will find the Britain's Got Talent contestant's album under the Christmas tree this year??

      This sudden and amazing success must be overwhelming for her. I'm actually a little worried for her. Is she going to be able to handle the fame, the money etc.? The leeches will be soon after this woman in no time soon, trying to bleed her dry. Great success story, though. Not really a fan of her stuff, but it shows the public still has an interest in buying music.

      So has it been confirmed that this sold more than Mrs Future Ex VinceNotVance Taylor Swift's "Fearless" album?

      That's amazing! Although album sales are far more frontloaded than even movie/dvd sales, this shows that Ms. Boyle's album will go strong for the rest of the year onto 2010! Congrats!

      It's so sad that current pop stars are so empty and talentless that they can be ousted by a talented karaoke singer. Actually, that's all they really are anyway: karaoke singers. They just sing lyrics written by someone else and to music produced by someone else. Hell, they even have to alter their voice electronically to be passable.

      I have to say that I was hoping that Alicia Keys would edge Susan Boyle out and nab the #1 spot for one fleeting week. Unfortunately, Alicia didn't have a massively-successful single out to promote her album like she usually does. In fact, I think she released two of her weaker tracks from the album as the first two singles. Oh well. I'm happy to see so many people embracing someone for their music and not for their sex appeal, but I do feel that Susan Boyle is possibly the most overrated popular musician in at least a few years. She's clearly not an idiot, but I just don't think she's that great of a singer. I think that once the collective internal thought process of "how can such a not-so-great-looking woman sing and not sound horrible?" dissipates, she will notice a remarkable drop in popularity. Let's call it Norah Jones Syndrome (although I have far greater musical respect for Norah Jones). Norah Jones really only became big when she was nominated for so many major awards at the Grammy Awards, and then bigger when she won the categories. While the quality of her work hasn't decreased, there has been a steep drop-off in interest ever since her second album. Unfortunately, Susan probably won't be so lucky. Those Simon Cowell shows seem to be better at finding cover artists whose stars are destined to quickly fade (Ruben Studdard) than artists who can stand on their own two feet (Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood).

      The fact that someone that looks like Ozzy Osbourne at 70 years old and can keep a note just shows you how freakin completely empty music is right now. WTF?! I remember the days when you had to actually had to have talent and write your own music and people actually LISTENED to music without a video!
