American Idol is back on January 12 for a 2-night, 4-hour premiere event featuring the auditions from Boston and Atlanta.
And there's quite a star-studded guest judge list!
Not only is Ellen DeGeneres taking over for Paula Abdul for the whole season, but Victoria Beckham, Mary J. Blige, Kristin Chenoweth, Neil Patrick Harris, Joe Jonas, Avril Lavigne, Katy Perry and Shania Twain will all be guest judging throughout the season!
We're looking forward to it - except for Avril!

PS I have been to both an Avril and a Katy Perry concert. Katy Perry cannot sing live, she completely relies on her stage personality to carry a show. Avril was funny and an AMAZING singer live. (she can outsing her old CD versions now)

Meh. American Idol is overplayed anymore. The first season… MAYBE up until season 3–was ok… now it's just boring. Same stuff, different contestants.
American Idol is SO over ! Now, just a show for bored mid-west housewives. You watch, the ratings will fall off after the intial first few shows - once people get a look at Ellen, and tire of her stutter. Now, IF Ryan finally came out of the closet, that would add some zing !

No way. Will not watch. I believe the voting for the finale was fixed. Ask anyone else who was on the phone for Adam and could not get through until the last hour. and since Idol never showed the number of votes each contestant got for the finale, I stand my ground.Would tell anyone watching not to waste your time.

he'll be a cute judge, yeah he's not the most amazing talent ever, but he has a really good voice (I judge from listening to the live versions of just Joe songs like Gotta Find You, breathtakingly beautiful in that low range where there's no strain), has charisma and he's funny. I also wanna see Neil & Victoria!
I won't be watching this year. Last year was it for me. Lambert didn't win and he should have (I have nothing against Chris). I think that their voting system is extremely flawed. Plus I am getting tired of it.
Avril Lavigne is way better than Katy Perry! The only thing Katy knows is to wear mini-short dresses and thick makeup to get media attention.
And why is Victoria judging? Is she going to criticize the female contestants for being too 'fat' and give tips on how to be anorexic? Lame.

I don't like AI and I'm not gonna watch it this season. The only reason I watched the last two show of last season was because of Lambert and I regret not watching it full only coz of him.
I will be watching, but not the first few weeks. I like to see it when they get down to the real singers, not the people who just want to get on tv.

I think Avril Lavigne will be great….she does have talent!!you judge ppl based on weither you like them or not when you should be judging them on there talent witch is something that Avril has alot of. At least she worked hard to get where she is today instead of sitting there and judging people and doing nothing.
