Elton's Adoption Plans
Exciting!
Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish are still discussing plans to adopt despite being disappointed by the rejection from the Ukrainian government to adopt a boy named Lev because of their sexuality.
They have promised to support Lev financially and now they are looking into other options for adoption in 2010! Furnish says:
"We're going to Venice [for Christmas], we have an apartment there. We're checking out our options and that's part of what Christmas will be about - a chance to get off the treadmill and chill out. There is a lot to talk about."

I thought the real reason why they couldnt adopt was bc they werent from the coutnry- they have very STRICT rules about that..It had nothing to do with their sexuality…..

Thank you Elton and John for supporting little Lev and his brother. He looked so much like Elton that I was really rooting for you guys. Your gesture of love to him despite your dissapointment shows what is in your hearts.
There is a child out there who will bring you much happiness as will you both bring to her or him. Please remember, it is little girls who are most likely not to be wanted. A princess for the Queen? That would be marvelous. And there is no doubt that you both will be wonderful parents.
Equality to gays and lesbians now! Good luck in your continued pursuit to provide a home for a child who has none.

I hope they are able to adopt. I think it is ridiculous that people who run those foster/adoptive homes would rather have children sit for their entire lives than be sent out to loving parents.
Why not an older child? There are some lovely children out there who could use a home and no one will adopt them because they are older.

Most reputable adoption agencies don't adopt to potential parents ove the age of 50 only very few it's 55.
Buying a child abroad, in an attempt to circumvent propper procedure is just wrong

I agree with #9. An older child is a better idea. Especially since these two are quite older to be new parents (especially Elton). But lots of older children dream of homes and good parents.
I don't get why they need a BOY? What about any child who 'needs' a home?
p.s. I would've given anything to have been adopted by Elton when I was a kid in '73!

Correction: the primary reason they were denied is their AGE, not their sexuality.
I have no problem with a gay couple adopting a child. There are so many kids out there who need a loving home. But, I think Elton is really too old. It's kind of like those 70 year old women finding ways to have babys! All the money in the world is nice, but who cares if your 10 and your parents are dead from old age!
The biggest issue I have with this is Elton himself has expressed a lack of patience and proven that he has fits of tantrums as well hence his book "Tantrums and Tiaras." The biggest issue of course is Elton's age. I don't think in your 60's it's a time to decide to raise a child. As other have commented he should try being a foster parent.
Who are you to think they weill make fantastic parents? Just becaue they're gay? What kind of reasoning is that? Elton may be rich, but he's a hundred years old! How is that fair for his adopted child?
They should adopt fraternal twins–one girl and one boy. Who cares what nationality, because then they can find a pair like that.
Maybe they could adopt an older child?
